For me no holiday is complete without a boat trip. One of the best that i have been on is to Errikousa island, somewhere that many visitors to Roda have never seen for maybe two reasons - the view of the island is blocked by the headland to the west of the village and you have to walk out of the village towards Acharavi to see it, the other reason is that it is very often too hazy to be able to make the island out. It takes the best part of two hours to get there by boat and the first thing that hits you when you walk along the quayside is the absolute peace & quiet of the place. There is a lovely sandy beach & crystal clear water to spend your 4 hours on the island by , or you can take yourself off on a cliff top walk. There are a couple of places to get some refreshment and there used to be a shop but this might be closed nowadays. A leisurely two hour sail takes you back home - a great chance to top up the tan. Pete.

Seeing the photographs Pete took us back to the time we visited Ericoussa, and how we were both astounded at the beauty and tranquility of the place.
Another island we like is Vidos, the island off Corfu Town. Only costs about €1 each way on the boat. The island is deserted all except a small bar/restaurant owned by a British women. However, the island has a lot of history to it because of what it was. A leisurely walk around Vidos one discovers the wildlife including wild chickens amongst other animals. Nice beaches to relax on, and look at the most of East Corfu if you wish.
Apologies I do not have any photos due to a recent PC breakdown, but I do know of a wonderful photographic website of the island, which I will try and find and post up.
Yeiamas, Chris

It is a great trip, Pete, and we even managed with a wheelchair. On the way back we stopped at Canal d'Amour for a swim and it was down to some old guy with grey hair to go in first before the youngsters took the plunge. Here are a couple of our pics from 2007:

One thing i'll always remember is that the house at the end/start of the quay is the police station, the policeman was sat outside sunbathing the day we went - he really has got "a bobbie's job" pete.

this is a trip that everyone must do!!!! you can book it with helen on the front and go with captain george. when we go we always take a picnic as there really isnt much on the island apart from a FABULOUS beach you can always get food at the takeaway the corner before you get picked up. Its a great day away from it all on the way back george always pulls right in to the cliffs at sidari and if you want you can have a swim its beautifull clear blue water. Bonus is you get a great tan when your on the boat ( WATCH YOU DONT BURN THOUGH ). lynda101

Helen and George's on website can be found at Dreamer CruisesYou can plan which boat trip you would like to do on next year's holiday in Roda. Helen and George pick up from various locations including from outside the Roda Inn and from Roda Beach Hotel to take you to the boat, only a few minutes down the road. Julie

An amazing island to visit and often a chance to see the rich and famous,a liitle pocket of Greece that is still untouched hence the beautiful boats anchored off shore. We do trips over ther twice a week taking an hour from Roda and visiting the Canal D'Amour on the return journey.Anyone who would like to visit Orthani can contact us at the Roda Inn.

we went over last year and walked to the harbour at the other end of the island it was hard work because it was so hot, its a lovely place and would go back, there is a small shop, a nice hotel for lunch although expensive and a small cafe oh by the way the policeman was sat outside in his barev feet drying his washing!

We walked to that harbour with a wheelchair, chowsey, but there were two of us to push when needed.

Hi Steve, depending on where George is moored, you can get on or off in different ways. If you are at Kassiopi, for example, you can get over the side and on to some decking before getting on to the quayside. If he is moored to the side, then there are two places to get over the side - one higher than the other but neither too bad. George also has a small stool on board and nothing is too much trouble. Hang back until everybody gets off and then take your time. This is a photo of the side of his boat:
