The beauty of Greece in the summer is that you don't have to wonder what the weather will be like tomorrow with wall-to-wall sunshine from May to September - well usually!
I have been back in Roda now for twelve days and there was one shower one night - nothing else only beautiful spring-like weather. The words 'false sense of security' spring to mind and I am beginning to wonder how long it might last. Looking at a number of weather stations, it is hard to know what to believe. Many are saying that it will rain from Wednesday for a few days, particularly the service favoured by the locals - 'freemeteo'. Johno's favourite, 'viamichelin', gives us just a splash on Wednesday and that's it! Of course, 'viamichelin' does forecast specifically for Karousades and not the whole of the island like many of the others.
So, who will be correct? ... and does anyone really know as they all claim to be based on data from the various stations like IKERKIRA2 & ICORFU3. I know which I would prefer to believe ....
One of the nice things about the recent good weather has been the blooming of Corfu's flora. I had no idea that we had wild orchids growing by the roadside, almost in the centre of the village, until today. I think this is very early and I just hope that the rain, cold & storms that could still arrive, will not cut short their oh-so-brief celebration.

How lucky you are to be in Roda at this time of year, you will be able to see spring come to life in the village. We have been coming to Roda for over 20 years but never early in the year. Can you help me at all please. We have stayed at various places in the village but we have heard of a lovely place wand it has lovely gardens just behind where the skooner night club used to be. It is down a narrow street opposite nikos fish taverna. I believe the owner is called nikki and he has a shop opposite the kind hearted place, his is tall and his wife sits outside the shop, she has a bad leg. Am I making sense!! I have asked various people and have been trying to get in touch with him to ask about his appartments as we are interested in maybe staying there this year but no one seems to know how to get hold of him. Do you know who I mean and can you help?

His name is Nikiforos, Beth, and he decided not to support the website so I'm not sure how people are supposed to contact him if they don't have any details. He doesn't have a website, nor is he in any brochure. He is part of the Alexakis family that also own the Dolphin.
He did upgrade the apartments a couple of years ago and they do look very nice from the outside. He literally raised the roof and my guess is that he has built mezzanine's in the roof-space to accommodate families. The gardens are lovely and the situation is superb.
He is possibly the only person in Roda who doesn't speak to me, but I will try to get his details from someone else. He has relinquished his shop this year and is being developed by the Banos family from Pirates Bar. Give me a few days ...

By the way, Beth, the apartments are called Fiona-Kostas, and the family also own the block opposite Theodoros which is operated under the Olympic banner.

Hi Beth, Nikiforos seems to be living in Corfu Town at the moment, but I am assured he will be in the village tomorrow. I will look out for his son Kostas in the morning.

Hi Beth,
One of our members has sent me some contact details for Kostas, Nikiforos's son. If you would like to register on the forum and send me a personal message, I can pass them on to you.

Beth - people were sure that Nikiforos would be in the village yesterday, but he still had not arrived by the afternoon. Don't foget that I have been given a number for Kostas, his son, but I would need to send it to you by personal message or email. Please tell me what you want me to do.
