Having collected my son Alex and his girlfriend from Gatwick at 01.30 :(this morning and gone through the normal questions of how they enjoyed their holiday in Roda I was given the question of "how soon can we book for next year". As a family we have been coming to Roda for six or seven years now and last year with my eldest being 17 he asked if he could bring his girlfriend (16) for her first visit. She has been abroad every year since she was 6 but going to different place each year and not really wanted to go back to any of her past resorts, so you can imagine how nice it was to hear the question "how soon etc"come from her. She like the rest of us has fallen for the mystery that is called Roda and the unknown factor that draws us back every year. The thing she likes most is the relaxed atmosphere and the friendliness of the local people be it Greek or English. So a new generation of the Roda circle begins and long may it continue. Unfortunately myself, Mandy and Marc can`t make it this year but thanks to the wonders of IT we can have a daily, weekly or anytime fix of Roda thanks to the brain box that has made the Visit Roda site. What a brilliant idea !!!! Thanks as always to ALL the people of Roda for making my sons first holiday without us around something he and his partner will always remember and that includes those at Melinda who don`t seem to get enough coverage on this site for one reason or another. May be they should tell more people about it? ?

Hi mickmandy,
We once spoke to a group of highly-charged young ladies by the pool at Metallinos - 'first time in Corfu?' we asked, reasonably - Ooh no, been coming for 12 years and we've brought our friends this year.
Roda certainly transcends generations and offers a unique kind of magic that attracts young and old alike to the point where they cannot resist coming back. If you could put it in a bottle, you would be rich - and where would you then go for your holiday? Roda, of course!
The forum exists not only for members, guests and visitors, but also for local businesses. It is a shame that only a handful regularly contribute and thereby advertise their presence and their facilities to the world at large. The ones who have done so have certainly been better supported by new and old visitors alike and, as local people have a better access to and understanding of the internet, things may soon change.
Great story - it is the responsibility of each generation to take the best of what they have and pass it on to their successors - you have certainly done your duty where Roda is concerned! ;D

This was posted last month on Trip Advisor:
It is one of my favourite places in the world and we have been to quite a few places. The whole Roda scene makes it feel like a second home meaning I never want to come home.

The children of friends of ours approached me in the pub and asked if they would like Roda, as a gang of them were looking for somewhere to go to celebrate finishing their "A" levels, it was with some trepidation that i told them that I liked it but they would have to see for themselves. I worried all the time that they were away that they would return unhappy with their holiday - i needn't have worried - they loved it & vowed to return again. Once again the appeal of Roda to all generations was obvious, i think we spent the whole evening chatting about their and our previous times there. pete.

I have a twing of concern everytime I recommend Roda, because I love it so much, a bit of bias creeps in I suppose.
I should know by now that actually 99% of people who stay there fall in love with the place. Families I have recommended Roda to have come back happy that their children could play in the safe sea's. A group of Tif's friends visited and totally loved the place (18 - 22), always something to do.
Being able to have the holiday of personal choice (peaceful or 'buzzing), wonderful people and an amazing welcome is the key to Roda

I know what you mean treece I have always been dubious about recommending Roda to friends but over the years I have realised that even if there is a bit of bias in my opinion all the people who have been have enjoyed themselves and look forward to returning as soon as possible. Roda truly is everyones second home and I'm lucky enough to have made it my first home now Rachael

When I see the 'New Generation' of Roda lovers frolicking around the village a feeling of regret and melancholy overwhelms me. I look back at my misspent ( and I spent a lot !! ) youth and realise that it could have been misspent much better in Roda instead of strange and exotic places ( yes.. I've been to Bournemouth Chris !! ) I visited as a callow youth. Thirty years ago with a body like a Greek God ( and a head like a Greek goat !!!) I could have lept around like a gazelle at the 'Greek Nights' to the envy of all and sundry instead of lumbering around like a demented rhino !! Enjoy it callow youths .... it passes much too quickly. make the most of Roda and it will make the most of you....... Jealous Johno

You would not like Bournemouth now Johno, and that is coming from a resident. In fact there is a big media discussion going on at the moment with the Council and Police of the severe rise in drink related problems.
A Greek God, who might that be Johno, (Demos Roussos) only joking to any DR fans.
