Somebody reported recently that they had been charged 50 euros by their taxi driver instead of the quoted 48 euros. As a result of tax increases which came into force at the beginning of July, both taxi companies in the village have been obliged to raise their prices. They have absorbed half of the increase themselves, but the other half will have to be paid by their customers.
For one-way airport transfers for up to four people and their luggage:
Roda Taxis now charge 49 euros per journey
Alfa Taxis now charge 50 euros per journey

Then my information is wrong, Kath. Yiannis from Roda Taxis told me and he added that any bookings with him that were taken before July will still be at the old price. Only bookings taken from July onwards will cost more. If I can catch him today, I will ask again.
The prices I can be sure about are Roda Taxis.

I couldn't find Yiannis today, Kath, but I am meeting him early on Sunday. It would seem that Alfa Taxis are charging 51 euros per journey, which surprises me because people arriving at the airport tend not to have coins, only notes.
Will post a further reply next week, by which time you will be here!

Danny and friends arrived about 2 weeks ago and took an airporttaxi. On the pricelist they read the costs would be 49 euros, but they had to pay 56!!! Pipitsa ordered Radio-taxi (Acharavi) for me, and I had to pay (only) 47 euros .

Yes Steve, the vast majority of people arrive with only notes and will end up paying 55 euros as the taxi driver "wont have any change" and if it is your first visit to Corfu it is not the best first impression. Fortunately we have some loose change from last year so will pay exactly 51 euros in reaction to the content of the email I received from Alfa - will tell you all when I see you soon.
kind regards, Kath.

I was quoted 45 and paid only 45 both ways although the young driver who took us back to the airport mentioned something about 49 but he got what I had saved. Looks like its back to free transport from the holiday company for us again next year, I'll pack extra travel sickness pills

I already wrote about my son paying too much 3 weeks ago by using airporttaxi...seemed he had lost the telephonenumber of his friend the taxidriver Kosta from Roda. On his way back to the airport they took a taxi from Roda, paying 50 euros. There is a funny story to be told here as well...
A few days before ,Danny called Fanis from Loft Rent-a-car if he had a car available to take to the airport but they had not 1 car left, the same story with Dromeas.. So they decided to take a taxi from Roda: At first they had a very old taxi (because there were problems with the orig. taxi they were supposed to have) but just before they left the orig. taxi arrived. They had to get out and had all the luggage transfered. But they only went as far as Agrafi when the taxidriver stopped and started making some phonecalls , some of the dashboardlights were red.... he continued to drive, slowly and carefully, stopped for a few times but made it to Corfutown. Here he stopped at a garage to have the car fixed within 15 minutes (had to wait for the mechanic first for only 5 min.) After this they were brought to the airport . They made it in time, in fact I think they were too early !!!

One other funny thing :now the petrolprices in Corfu are about 1.60 euros per litre....on arriving back in Holland my son said...ah the petrol is cheap here!! (about € 1.45) ;D ;D
