Back in 2005, other major Tour companies warned of problems with the British company, Gold Trail. From what I have read so far, it appears a similar sort of scenario as with Golden Sun back in 2004.
It is estimated that some 16000 customers are stranded aboard in Turkey and Greece, including Corfu. Greece holidaymakers have been advised to either contact the CAA on 0203 4410846 or 0044 203 4410846 if telephoning from abroad, or the local representatives for Onurair, Turquois and Viking, who were the airlines used by Gold Trail. CAA are arranging for passengers already abroad to be placed on other aircraft for their return journeys as and when available.
Holiday makers due to depart on holiday with this company have been advised not to bother at all, but to start refund proceedings with ATOL. You will obviously get no joy from Gold Trail.
It is estimated that some 150,000 people will be affected as we approach the School Holidays.

Couldn't agree more Lynda, just like XL did a couple of years ago, at the very least they are guilty of fraud - selling something that wasn't there. XL were still taking bookings at 16.00hrs on the thursday before announcing they were going out of business the very next morning, this lot were probably doing the same, there should be a law against it. pete.

We all accept the present financial climate around the world, but this is getting ridiculous, that those who set out well in advance, using hard earned cash, to book a holiday, for it to just disappear from under their noses, without a word from those who caused the problem.
I agree with the above, there is no company that just goes bust, it does not happen over night. They, or their creditors knew that something was going wrong. I wonder when the last booking was taken, in comparison to when they knew Gold Trail was folding.
Someones head should roll for this. I know I would be head hunting if it was me.
Sorry to hear about your relatives Lynda. I am hoping my sister and family have not booked through these people. They are due to fly out to Corfu in August, but are away at this time so cannot contact them.
