Well, here we are home again after another fantastic time in our favourite place. Most of you will be wanting to know about the alterations that have been made but fear not, Roda is still Roda. The most obvious one is the widening of the main road down to the beach and the laying of the pavement. A GREAT IMPROVEMENT! There is now easy walking from H.N.Travel down to the Aphrodite. No looking out for dips and bumps or that very fine loose gravel that more often than not, found it's way into your flip flops or sandals and needed a good impression of Riverdance to get rid of! All of the businesses involved that had to have the fronts moved back have benefited and are all open for you all to mooch round or dine in. Talking of dining, we always had good meals wherever we went. Nicos and Lucy, good, home cooked Greek meals. Andreas their youngest son is learning the ropes and was a very attentive and polite waiter. (To anyone who remembers him from a few years ago, this will come as a surprise!). La Madera as ever, came up trumps with their steaks, quality of food and service. Opa and the Stretsoseta. ( Spelling?) Roll of very tender beef stuffed with herbs, very delicious and very moreish, as long as you remember to take out the little sticks! One we hadn't tried before was Drosia, or Dr. Osia as my husband used to call it. Well, what can I say. The presentation of the food left a little to be desired, but the amount was phenomenal! My husband had liver and onions and when it arrived he just looked at it at groaned! He eats a lot but the five large pieces of perfectly cooked liver smothered in fried onions with a pile of chips nearly had him beat. ( I know, I know, but he wanted to eat English that night). Big Ben's has extended his snack menu and includes lots of goodies just right if you want a quick snack or something more substantial. The Harbour Bar has not changed thank goodness, with Socrates as mad as ever!
We stayed at the Melinda this year and the accommodation was excellent. Very clean and tidy, cleaners in every day. Nothing was too much trouble for Gail, Adoni or George. Anything you wanted, they would put themselves out to make sure you were happy.
The weather when we arrived was not very good and we had a terrific thunder storm on the Wednesday night, but after that it was all hunky dory.
Went to both FGT's and met Holidayman and Jackie with her husband Nick. Steve was there of course and we had some lively discussions about what was going on regarding the Greek Government. Sorry not to meet Julie this year, but her health comes first so we wish her well.
What with our ages and not in the best of health ourselves, my husband and myself tended to stay close to home (Roda), but hey, that's what it is all about. We don't go there to use it as a base for
visiting other resorts, we go there to meet up with old friends and make new ones, Roda is that magic sort of place.
So, to sum it all up, another fabulous holiday and here's looking to the next one!! Thanks to everyone who made us welcome again, love to them all, and we hope they all have a prosperous year.
