Tui have said that their 'customers’ behaviour has demonstrated that even against a backdrop of reduced consumer confidence, the main summer holiday is an essential expenditure.’
Well which of us would argue with that but why don’t they let us visit the places we want to visit? In the UK at least, there 184,000,000 reasons, being the contribution to the Tui profits in 2009, up 38% on the previous year. That is why customers are being sent to Turkey and Roda is ‘full’!

Here here. Perhaps we should use this period of out of season to contact companies such as TUI and asked them why do they do it, and what are the reasons for doing it. Even to the point of being able to prove that they are wrong. Is there an organisation like an ombudsman, similar to say Offwat etc that listens to the consumer.

According to Sky news this morning Greece is virtually bankrupt and everything will have to go up to pay off some of the billions of debt - no doubt this will be another excuse for the tour companies to send people to other countries where the tourists money will go a lot further, and it will be cheaper for the companies themselves to operate. Higher taxes on cigarettes, drink and oil will have a knock effect on tourism - already down this year from previous years.
