I've just looked at a one week-old UK newspaper and a UK man faces the death penalty in Iraq, a holidaymaker was set on fire in Crete, and Mallorca is being bombed. In the meantime, thousands of people are enjoying the summer sunshine in Woolacombe, north Devon, and today's TV reports that not one single person at any UK holiday centre has complained. We had a message today, from someone who has been coming to Roda for more than twenty years, asking if the reports that Corfu has had a lot of rain are true - rain?, what rain? If only I wasn't so cynical ..... Steve

As you know Steve, we had plenty of rain (3-4 days worth) when we were in Roda in June - but I know where I would rather be - rain / hail or shine its Roda for me!
best wishes, Kath.

The rain in Roda doesn't make you feel miserable, as it does here on the UK.
Have holidayed through many storms......no problem

Little tidbit of good news. I was talking to a friends daughter today, she works in a travel agents, and she said bookings for Greece for next year are up by about 20% compared to same time last year. Good news eh!!, lets hope Corfu gets more than it's share. My hols for 2010 been booked for last 2 months so no way am I going to miss out on seeing Corfu busy again. Seems all those clever clogs who thought holidaying in UK would be cheaper this year were wrong, as they spent so much trying to keep out of the rain and wind that it ended up costing much more than if they had gone to Greece after all.

We've seen a similar report, Sylvia, but it seems that the propoganda machine is still telling everyone what a great summer it has been and yet another heatwave is forecast this week - old american saying - 'people will buy anything if you can feed it to them fast enough'
Let's hope enough people can make their own minds up.

Sadly I think it is a propaganda machine running again. Take a look at my posts regarding Corfu Tourist Problems, and the figures do really say it for itself. Personally, although some brochures are available for next year, I cannot see how they can predict the numbers are up already on this year and last. Having gone around the Travel Agents on my frequent quest to find out what is what, one notices not many holidays are being advetised to Corfu, yet one does see Kos, Kefalonia, Zakynthos (Zante), Rhodes and Crete in abundance.
Some Tour Operators are adding Corfu to their routes for 2010 as is Thomsonfly from Bournemouth (Packages from First Choice), but it is still to be seen if this is going to increase the numbers. Lets hope so.
Visitors from other countries are increasing, in particular from France, but it appears they, and the Italians are travelling by road and using the ferries, and the visitors via the Sea Port have increased compared to last year.
Yeiamas, Chris

I used to be terrified of storms, till I had storms in Roda one year. Totally spectacular!!!! Love them, now!
