Have any members had trouble on their return journey when they get to the airport with the tour reps not letting them into the airport. We have trouble every year and we always travel independently. I know that the airport can be very busy and congested but the reps can be so officious. Maybe when you are young you dont mind but when you are older you dont want to be hearded about. Is it me just being a grumpy old lady!!!

Hi Marg, it's not just you, we have encountered this for the last few years, when i tell them we are travelling independently their reply is "it's still our plane, join the queue". It didn't used to be this way but it's got to the stage where it's not worth arguing with the little hitlers. pete.

Maybe the answer, Pete, is don't tell the travel rep. - just go inside and wait for the gate to be allocated. We have always done this, not by being devious, more by being stupid! It never occurred to us do anything else and we've never had a problem. Steve

This happened to Elaine and I one year. It was a Thompson or Thomas Cook rep who asked us to wait in line. When I tried to explain, they virutually ordered us to stay in line.
One of our reps was coming by, and I called her over. After a short few words, she said follow me. The other rep insisted we wait. I looked at her and said, I told you we were flying with Palmair.
The whole queue cheered us. Needless to say the rep was somewhat embarrassed.
Some people cannot stand in that heat, and need to be under cover. If the reps of the big companies got off their butts, things would move along much more smoothly without waiting outside.

Pete I had that problem last year. This rep told us get in line and wait.I tried to explain we where traveling flight only. She told us the same .Its our plane and you will have wait. I then pointed out to her that I was a shareholder in the company she worked for. It was probably more my plane than hers. This seamed to work, as we walked right past her and up to the desk . (That reminds me must buy some shares in that company .There again may be not.)
This year was not a problem because we have friends working at Corfu airport. We meet them and where take up to the desk.Reps didn't like it ;D

Ian, and I thought you were so innocent! Independent travellers are the backbone of Corfu's tourist industry and most of them know that tour operators come & go - taking what they can, and abandoning us when it suits them. If you need to do what Ian did, then go ahead and make sure that you get the best possible service for you & your party. Steve

We are travelling flight only this year and I was wondering whether we just walk inside the airport, having read the previous comments I will be avoiding travel reps at all costs as I refuse to be spoken to in the way that some of you have previously experienced!!

I am glad it is not only us who have had trouble at the airport. We can laugh about it now, but last year the rep told us if we did not go outside she would get the security to remove us. We wondered off but did not go outside and eventually went to the check in desks when announced only to find the rep behind the desk talking to the check in girl, who then moved to another desk and the rep herded all her passengers in leaving us with no one to check us in. PATHETIC OR WHAT. Maybe Ian we could pay your friends at the airport to meet us all at the airport and help us through!! Ha Ha

for the last 4 years we have booked flight only, and like others we have been spoken to like 2 year olds by these reps its always the same thing WAIT OUTSIDE AND JOIN THE QUEUE. Telling them we were flight only didnt matter,we just walked around fir 10 mins then walked in and hung about in the area beside the check in desks

Hi Val - it's a difficult situation - there are times when the airport is completely empty & times when it is packed beyond its capacity. Improvements have been made this year which, it is claimed, allow 2 - 3 extra planeloads of passengers to wait inside the departure lounge. Whether this is true, we don't know, but you can certainly see extra seating near to gate 5. The reps, well, they are poorly paid, badly managed and lack much of the basic training - especially when it comes to personal skills. You are the customer - be reasonable, but take charge of your own situation and, as an experienced visitor to the airport, use your knowledge to get fair play. We generally use Roda Taxis to go to the airport, we enter the building at the domestic flights end, and walk down inside. We have never been approached by anyone and, by watching the flight announcements, have always been near to the front of the queue.

Steve, I will be travelling with Roda Taxis and might enter the building at the domestic flight end as well. I forgot me and my friend Byron did that before when we went to visit his parents. Thanks for refreshing my memory Rachael

Yes like you all we have had the same prob in recent years, this year we just walked into airport and sat down and watched board. hope it will be different in sept when we fly easyjet. one rep informed us one year that we had not chartered the plane. i refuse to queue in the heat when i have paid independantly for the seat on plane. we all have nightmares at corfu airport we just put up with it. 3 weeks in roda compensates
