We have just returned from another great two weeks back at "home!"
Got off to a great start with the flight taking off 20 minutes early, we had a window seat and a great view of Roda flanked by Acharavi and the harbour at Astrakari.
The bags arrived on the carousel next to each other after just 20 minutes and a quick text message saw Anita picking us up and 45 minutes later we walked into Pipitsa's apartments for the first time.
Everything that has been put on this forum about these apartments is true - brand new orthopedic mattresses, corner bath with shower, 32 inch flat screen t.v with d.v.d. player and a washing machine. As for the lady herself, what can i say, she was brilliant, always asking if there were any problems, she really wants you to enjoy your stay.
It was great to see Julie & Steve again , we had a very nice meal with them at Opa restaurant, for those of you who have not seen George yet this year you may have to look twice to make sure it's him !
The two f.g.t's were very good - it's great to put faces to names that you know so well, nice to see Bill again and to meet Kath & Brian Webber with their daughter "with Greek origin" (Kelly) & her partner James, Julie's aunty Jean & Phil , Majornminor and Petra's son Danny who is looking forward to some early nights when his mum comes out in July .
There have been quite a few changes since last season - all for the best in my opinion, the new "ISLAND TROPICANA" looks very nice and i can recommend "ESTRELLA" the new pasta & pizza place, we never got the chance to sample "ANGELS CAKE" as there were not enough hours in two weeks never mind in a day to visit every place.
For me the best change was the opening of "OSCARS" - Tellis, Nikos and Vasilly have created a great venue and with Tim d.j.ing the place was buzzing on quite a few nights.
We had 2 firsts, 2 seconds and 3 thirds in the quizzes at Crusoe's - not that we went in there very much you understand !
Although Steve's photos of the new arrivals are excellent as usual, none of them do justice to the kiddies , all of whom are a joy to see, Spiros, the son of Alex & Sarah has already got the nickname of "smiler" as this is all he does all day.
We never had a bad meal in any of the places we dined, Debbie new favorite dish is the lamb"exohiko" at Nico's whilst mine was the "Kleftiko" at Smiley's.
We missed Maggie's breakfasts but the new evening menu is excellent - all the old favorites plus some new "lighter" meals - once again her desserts are to die for - the best of all being the trifles.
Best for breakfasts were Oscars and Crusoe's - thanks to Lynn for the rolls to take to the airport, which was the usual organized chaos - we stood outside in the blazing sun for an hour while a flight leaving after ours was checked in first, then a mad dash as they opened 6 desks to get us all checked in with just 30 minutes to spare before take off - but hey" , it wouldn't be Corfu if it all went smoothly! ;D
All in all a brilliant two weeks that simply flew by, the countdown starts here for the next time that we go "home"
Pete.
