I am planning to move to Roda for a minimum of a year, quite possibly permanently, and am looking for as much information as possible. I ideally like to rent a two bed villa with living area. I am going to make this my retirement bid, so am looking for relaxing areas, popular with other ex-pats. Any advice or experiences would be much appreciated.

Hi pub05, the first thing I would do would be to check out various websites and see if there is any adverts for rental properties. I would then come over and have a "fact finding holiday" investigating, plus picking up any local papers etc to see what is on offer and speak with others who have made the move.
Depending where you want to live will dictate the cost i.e. the nearer to the coast or a resort you will probably pay more than moving inland, also define what the rent includes as most want electric and water on top, but some include water. Acharavi and Roda seem to be around 300/400 euro per month plus utilities for basic and this can increase to 600 + euro for something of a higher standard. Also enquire what sort of furnishing there are, as the greek standard of 'furnished' may not be yours, also take into account if you are bringing a car, as you will need parking. Double glazing and central heating are a good idea, epsecially in the winter months, but you usually pay more for these types of accommodation.
Good luck.
