With the UK government desperate to have holidaymakers spend their money at home this year, it is slightly coincidental that a long hot summer is being forecast. Research by Thomas Cook shows that only 3% of those questioned actually believe it!

I certainly don't, but you never know, miracles do happen!

The UK is very unlikely to have either. Firstly, until they can reduce the ridiculous prices they charge for accommodation, holidays in the UK, they are not likely to have much business. Although the Tourist Boards will lie through their teeth saying they have had a great season.
A holiday to France, four people, ferry, driving and cottage for two weeks, £600. One week in Portugal, B&B flying from Bournemouth, £162 each. Corfu for two weeks SC, flying out of Bournemouth, £259 each.
One week in Bournemouth, Self Catering or B&B, for a family of four, £800 - £1200. Cornwall, one week B&B for two, £850.
Summer (30th August 2008) Corfu 31c, No Rain, Very Sunny Portugal 29c, No Rain, Very Sunny France 30c, No Rain, Very Sunny, Some Cloud. Bournemouth UK 19c, Partly Cloudy, Some Rain.
Need we say anymore.
Yeiamas, Chris

Well I have found since they stated long hot summer we have had nothing but heavy rain and cooler weather,(Sheffield). Last 2 holidays in England with 2 then then 1 son was Centre Parc. Initally not much more but with all the extras a lot more and they were self catering. Last 3 years Corfu just John and I, eating out all time, less money, even with no sons.

How about this for a price. 1 week in Welcome on the North Cornwall/Devon Border 5 bed s/c £2000 per week sleeps 10. For that price we could have 2 months in Corfu or spoil ourselves and still have more than a month

It's been lovely here today. Every window in our office is wide open. And it's still really warm. Seems to be dulling over a bit now.
It would be good to stay in the UK.....if we got the weather.

It always makes me laugh when people ask "so, why do you go abroad for your holidays?" doh!
