As you all know I put greek musicvideos on the "ning", which I find at youtube. Today I found an old video of Sotiria Bellou , put on youtube by someone by the name of "semelicorfu" .Out of curiosity of course I looked for the real name: it was Nikolas living in Roda!!! Does anyone know who this person is??? I always say: There's no such thing as coincidence. I first heard the song "Mhn klais" of Sotiria in Roda at "Olive press" at the beach near the big Rodabeach (now:Mitsis) hotel. I still remember the words of this song, meaning "don't cry", by heart after so many years ( I do have the cd , so thats not that difficult ;)and I translated the song when I started learning greek 2 years ago ) Well, that was all back in 1981 and that year I fell in love with the beautiful island of Kerkyra. Can't wait for the autumn and winter to pass so I can look forward to the next summer, in Roda of course!. nl.youtube.com/semelicorfu

Do you know if there is a `nikolas´working at Semelis app.? Bellou is just the name of the female singer... I think this Nikolas must be an slightly older people because of the music he is posting I think....more my age( ) or even older?

If we see Lisa at Smileys, or Sandra & Yiannis at the Mediterranean supermarket - we'll ask them. If it is the Semeli we know of, then they will know.

sorry about the slip of the `pen`,I ment slightly older man instead of people. It could be a `nickname`too (so maybe its a woman). I found out that under the name Semelicorfu there are posts on other videosites too, under the name of Maria. I found the site of Semelicorfu hotel too: www.semelicorfu.comMaybe if you get to know these people, Steve, you could ask them to contribute to the videogallery too! ;D

that brought back some memories - Petra if you know the song from the Olive Press you must remember Stephanos and Ianko who were there before the Roda Beach took it back in about '83 I think. Also the Cri Cri which was between the Olive Press and Golden Sands. I too have loads of music (tapes and cd's) of the old days of the Olive Press (can you remember the big silver disco ball they had hanging from the ceiling inside?). Thomas was one of the Greek dancers from the Olive Press and is now the owner of a taverna featured on Rick Stein - we went up to old Perithia last month to see him - he hasn't changed a bit and we had a boozy afternoon swapping memories. I have to say those days were Roda at its best.

Hi! I can´t remember the names of the owners but I remember those beautiful evenings at Olive press, because of the greek dancing, the beautiful music and wonderful atmosphere. I remember the garden was always full of people enjoying this very much.On the old forum I posted my memories of 1981 before. I remember the boys from the neighbourhood coming down the hill (at the back of Olive press) with their bikes/ mopeds , at night. Some of them were dancing (just for fun) the greek traditional dances. I remember they danced in circles of fire, and I even remember one man taking off his shirt and setting it on fire one evening. It was at Olive press I met my former greek boyfriend . Thanks to Julie and Steve and Kostas of RodaPark I met him again this summer , after 25 years. It turned out he was still living in the "neighbourhood" of Roda. He bothered to come and see me at Ag Georgios south, where me and my family were staying. About KriKri: I remember this had already changed into a "Hamburger"restaurant by 1983 when I was in Ipsos and we went touring the north of the island , visiting Roda of course. I didn't know RodaBeachhotel "overtook"/owned Olive press, can imagine why... (it was very popular with the people staying at the hotel). Next to Olive press was a small "kantina" I think and a small shop / supermarket too. And I remember Eugene and Andreas' watersportsschool and the platform in front of RodaBeachhotel. The boys from the watersportsschool used to dance at the "greek nights" at RodaBeach hotel. I think I must have some old pictures somewhere, maybe I can ask my dad (I was visiting Roda with my parents and my sister at that time) if he has some more.... .. Maybe I can even "scan" them to show you (all) on the forum. A few years ago we visited Olive press again during daytime (on our way back to Acharavi), and we had something to eat there, but unfortunately I almost didn't recognize it. I felt really sad because of all the memories I had, even my husband noticed I was very quiet then. Could you tell me what it is like at the moment? is it still some kind of restaurant? I would like it so much to be like it was before, I think we all do....... ( especially with the (new) footpath along the beach , there was a photograph of it at the old forum too)
