What a beautiful bird. One of my favourite pass times. This species is the Black-Eared Wheatear. The eastern Black-Eared Wheatear, as it is in this case, is found in the eastern Mediterranean, and migrates to winter quarters in the Sudan, returning to the northern shores and lands around spring time. The male of the eastern form is distinguished by the line which extends across the base of the bill. Black-throated individuals of this race have a greater amount of black on the throat and face than on the western birds, and the black generally terminates more abruptly or in a straighter line.
This one appears to be a young male, hence it having a shade of colour on its breast and body feathers. Later as the season progresses these will in some case turn more white. However not indiginess to all birds of this species.

We love to see the northern wheatear come back to Roda, but this little guy steals the show.
