Following our predictions that the euro exchange rate will improve soon, it appears that futures traders in the US are now betting on the fact that the euro will fall against the dollar within the next two months or so. This will mean that the same will probably hold true for the GB pound.
The less productive eurozone countries have failed to match the efficiencies of the faster growing ones which puts an inevitable strain on the status quo. The euro was designed as a fair-weather currency and, at the moment, we have anything but.
Speaking to local, informed experts at the weekend, the feeling is that euro rates will fall by the beginning of May. This should mean that euro exchange rates will recover and you should get more euros for each GB pound this summer.

;D ;D ;D I have often found that when I exchange money with Julia at HN Travel she give the current bank rate less of course her commission and at today's rate, as of 5 minutes ago, Squawkbox Europe was quoting the rate at 1.185 euros for 1 pound sterling. Hope it improves for holidays in July - Laurence ;D ;D ;D

Does anyone know what the rates are like at the cash machines, I'll be using a Nationwide Flexi Account debit card. Last year, I don't think I paid any comission on withdrawals, but I'm sure I read something saying that had stopped. Anybody??

andy64 I also have a Nationwide Flexi Account i'm not sure of the rates at cash points but the cash withdrawal charges only apply to certain countries and Greece being in the EU it does not incur any additional charges. Check out nationwide's website for more information.

It's still the same, Andy, Nationwide Flexaccount does not incur any charges so today, for example, you will get the full 1.181 euros to the GBP. I did hear that Nationwide have put a stop on any new accounts that are opened solely for the purpose of changing money and only regularly used accounts will enjoy the privilege in the future. I guess that is perfectly reasonable.
