The last few days have seen many places opening, with La Madera, and Agrillia open and Petrino Seki on the point of opening joining Roda Park and Nikos family taverna. Pirates has been serving food for a few days now and the re-vamped Newport is due to open probably next weekend. The Dolphin opens tonight. All the bars and business were showing signs of activity in the last few days with the notable exception of Big Bens. But yesterday Ash was working on the beach setting out decking and the sunlougers. I understood that Yiannis was going to retire and let his small sidekick take over, but he had found steady all year work in Sidari with more money and better hours. So Yiannis has had to postpone his retirement. I don't know what is happening with the very popular quiz and bingo as Linda, who ran it, is now doing the quiz and bingo at Oasis and Theodoros resort as well as doing reception work at the Oasis.La Luz is under new ownership and, again, there has been no sign of movement there, so I'm keeping and eye on what is happening there. I would imagine that by next weekend nearly all the reost will be open.

Roxannes, with re-vamped decorations is due to open on the 4th. Alexandros on the beach has also announced it will be open in next couple of days, I'm sure that Alexandros in the village will be open soon after it's short break after it's winter opening hours. Yummies creperie is now on Summer openning hours and was looking very pretty with vases of wild flowers on their tables. Petrino Seki was open last night as was the Dolphin. May of the tourist shops are open of doing the finishing touches. The staff at Skouna are still working hard on their restaurant, Jon Banos at The Boathouse has painted the path by the bar a cleaning looking grey. Ammos grill room was being worked on, but these last two places are probably waiting for Nino's to open and the pool their isn't full yet. Semeli hotel behind me is not showing any signs of activity yet with the pool empty.

A bit of an update. There is movement at La Luz so that should be open soon and the same with Big Ben and Ammos grill room.
There is no sign of movement at the Semeli Hotel or The Silver Beach.
The corner of Roda with the Harbour and Crusoes is fully up and running. I have included a picture of the smart new entrance at the Aphrodite Hotel

As I walked back from the forum meeting Christina was adding the final touches to Alexandros in the Village with a coat of varnish being added to the ramp leading to the decking.
La Luz has its sunbeds all in place now, so am expecting them to open soon. I presume they are keeping the same name.
At Aqua suites the new stairs have had their shuttering removed, this should give easier access to their Crazy Fork restaurant.
The sofas and chairs under the umbrellas at Crusoes were very popular as I walked passed. A nice shady spot for a drink or to have some food.
A big omission to businesses not opening is Makris. It is all locked up and the grass is knee high.

The lovely Il Gelato has opened opposite Yummies, selling a delicious range of homemade icecream. Pegasus has announced it is open and the doors of the Milton are also open.
There is no sign of activity at the Brandy Shop or at Makris.
The Semeli hotel behind me is at last showing some signs of activity.
There has been some signs of cleaning happening at the Silver Beach Hotel.
Valentino's is open and has cleared the field behind it to be used as a carpark. Please remeber you access it from the lane behind Sophie apartments and NOT as a visitor tried via the road in front of the hotel, they ended up in the ditch. Not a great start to the holiday!

Last week the grass at Makris was strimmed and we now have guests staying there. There is very little sign of life at the Semeli Hotel behind me which is very unusual. It is not available on Booking so maybe it isn't opening this year.

Well, we are in full season now and to be honest I have not seen it this busy for a long time. Most restaurants require that tables are prebooked especially in the peaks hours, I have seen many people turned away because they didn't. Bars that are usually not that busy are packed on an evening. It is so good to see that just about everywhere is having a good season after two covid years There is not a room to be had in Roda, which is a lovely situation to be in.Seeing the beach and the businesses doing well is so good to see.

The Semeli Hotel behind my apartment has been put up for sale after having been closed for all of this season. There is an asking price of €1.2M for the 35 room facility. It has operated as a reasonably priced adult ony hotel tucked away in a quieter part of the village but still only a fe minutes from everything.

The season of 2022 is coming to an end with some hotels, shops, bars and restaurants closing. The earliest to close was Valentino’s which closed at the end of last month, since then we have seen the closures of the Elizabeth apartments, Sophie, Caliope, Christofi and Nino’s on the Beach. The Milton led the closure of the hotels with Aphrodite closing on Monday together with its associate restaurant, bar and shop, and The Pegasus looks closed now. Big Ben closed early in the month, Petrino Seki has closed with Pixida only open at weekends. Many of the smaller apartments have also closed but they are too numerous to mention. We still have Roda Oasis, the Coral Hotel open until the end of the month and the Kosmas is still open. There is still a good selection of bars and restaurants still open. Pirates, Oscars, The Drunken Sailor, Roxannes, Skouna, Dolphin, Nemo, Tropicana, Yummies,Drossia, the Mexican, Seaport, Crazy forks, both Alexandros and the Red Chilli and all the grill rooms are still open. Many of the tourist shops are still open as well. If you come in October there is still a good selection of places to eat and drink and buy presents, and we are having lovely weather at the moment.

I must make some amendments from yesterday's report. The Pegasus is still open, as is Theodoros and Angelina. The Brandy Shop and the Boathouse are also open though they might close earlier if the weather is inclemant. Ammos grill room has closed for the season. It looked like La Luz was also in the process of closing. I am going through the village tonight so will have a bit of a check to see what is happening.

Many of the business are now operating on reduced hours opening during the day and/or closing early in the evening. There is still enough of a selection of bars and places to eat with several gift shops remaining open as well. The all year bars of Oscars, Pirates, Drunken Sailor, Nemo and Tropicana will be open, with the two grill rooms and Drossia open as usual. The four all year supermarkets will also be open. Pirates hasa said it is planning to serve food until first week of November, and I'm sure other eating places will be reviewing the situation on a day-to-day basis.
