The only person I know of who was in Roda for Christmas and is now back home is 'bish'. Many of us would love to do the same at some time in the future, and we would love to know what you enjoyed most, bish - how about a brief impression?

Yes, we have got back from a wonderful 2 weeks in Corfu over Christmas and New Year.
It is not the first time we have been out at this time of year so we knew pretty much what to expect. We bought a house just outside Roda about 6 years ago and visit as regularly as we can throughout the year. We find that the price of flights is normally too expensive to come out over Christmas, but, this year we lucked into some cheap-ish flights from Heathrow, via Athens with Olympic.
Roda itself is obviously a lot quieter than in the summer months. Having said that there were plenty of bars open, as well as Drosia and the Grill Rooms near the crossroads for something to eat, although we tended to eat at home then go for a drink afterwards.
We ended up at Pirates most nights as it was very friendly and warm, (it does get very cold at night) and also some nights at Casanovas.
It was nice to bump into friends we have made over the years, and catch up when they have time to sit down for a drink.
We love the pace of life in Corfu. We found plenty to do, whether it was bits of maintenance around the house, doing some planning for 2009 for our business in the UK or just doing some sight-seeing. We would thoroughly recommend Roda ‘out of season’ (although you would need to stay somewhere with heating) as it just so relaxing.
All we need to do now is sell our business in the UK, so we can move over to Roda on a permanent basis!

Thanks bish, we needed to hear that and we can't wait to get back at the end of the month. When is your next visit?

Not sure at the moment, Steve.
Business is really busy at the moment, so haven't had time to even think about it. Hopefully not too long.

Hi Petra
We have a business in the South of England that makes signs (shop-fronts, vans, etc.), so I don't think our Greek would be good enough to do the same thing in Corfu.
I don't think we would want to retire completely just yet, but would like cut back on the amount of hours we work. Maybe we would do some internet based design work or something like that.
