We always enjoy the festival of Epiphany, even though we have yet to go and see the blessing of the sea. It is another day when the children go round the bars and cafes singing carols, though some with more enthusiasm than others, and some singing so fast they have been and gone before you have realised it. Toulah at Pirates mock blessed everyone in the bar with water thrown from a sprig of rosemary over us on the 6th, but the next day we were enjoying our weekly treat of a cooked breakfast when the priest (papas) came in in his full regalia and the bar and patrons were blessed. It is also the practice to go to church and collect a small bottle of blessed water for your own personal use. I haven't been able to find out about why rosemary and sometimes basil is used, I will investigate further.
