Good afternoon from Roda. I am sorry about the late report, but it is OXI day here. The day General Metaxa said NO (OXI) to the Italians about invading Greece in the second world war. It is their equivalent of Remembrance Sunday. So we were in Acharavi for the local parade. It looked a bit touch and go initially as we awoke to a thunderstorm with very high winds and torrential rain. The forecast got it right about the rain but not the thunderstorm. However it all started to clear as the morning progressed and by the time of the parade (11ish) it was quite bright and dry. Not like the weather at Thessaloniki, the parade was on the TV and it was cold and very wet for much of the time. By the time the parade here was over the sun had really come out and the sky cleared. The visibility was amazing with the deep blue white horse tipped sea between us and Albania. The view behind us was equally lovely.
Yesterday stayed lovely all day, with just a few high clouds coming along at the end of the afternoon, but they didn't spoil the sunny weather we are enjoying. The sea stayed calm and blue, tempting for any remaining holiday makers. The pool at Theodoros resort still has sunbathers enjoying this end of season heat. However once that sun goes down it does get a bit cool and those bars and restaurants that are still open have brought their glass fronts into play. The night was a bit cold, but still 16°C at 10.30pm, so it was still a very pleasant walk back from the village.
The temperature at 10.00am on Saturday 28th October 2017 was 14.2°C, real feel 14 °C, and the humidity 80% giving a dew point of 10°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 19.3°C (real feel 19°C) and the minimum was 11.1°C , the dew point 14°C. The maximum humidity was 75% and the minimum 64%.
The reported UV for today is 3 ( Range 1- 11+).
UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice.
The maximum temperature recorded by us in Roda in 2017 was 31.9°C (real feel 34°C) on 29th June. The maximum recorded temperature ever in Corfu was 42.8°C The lowest recorded temperature was -8.8°C 2017 hottest day June 29 31.9 real feel 34
DEW POINT 10-12°C Very comfortable 13-16°C Comfortable 16-18°C OK for most but all feel the humidity at the upper edge 18-21°C Somewhat uncomfortable for most people at the upper edge 21-24°C Very humid, quite uncomfortable 24-26°C Extremely uncomfortable fairly oppressive 26°C- Severely high. Good morning from Roda. I hope all of you remembered to turn your clocks back 1 hour this morning. Here in Roda normal service has resumed. We have wall to wall sunshine, which is extremely hot when out in it. We were seeking the shade for our second morning cuppa!.The sky is cloudless (except for a few tiny ones over Albania) and there is a gentle breeze. The sea still has rolling waves coming ashore, but generally the blue is only slightly ruffled. The low humidity we have at the moment means that we have great air clarity, so Albania is showing a lot of detail, but we do have a slight haze over the foothills behind us. We are just about to walk into the village to (hopefully) enjoy a last English breakfast at Pirates, and then a final cappuccino at Skouna as they plan to close today.
Yesterday, after the very wet and windy start, complete with thunderstorm, gradually turned out to be a very beautiful day. With the sun shining in a rapidly clearing sky, the wind dropping to a more acceptable level, and the sea an amazing range of blue/green colours. The night was a bit breezier, but not too chilly, and we had a clear very star strewn sky to admire. The lights of the villages of Albania , joined the reduced number from around the bay to give a very pretty view as we walked back from a meal at Roda Park (their last night of the season). It was still around 17°C at 11.30pm when we got in.
The temperature at 10.00am on Sunday 29th October 2017 was 15.3°C, real feel 15 °C, and the humidity 57% giving a dew point of 7°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 18.7°C (real feel 18°C) and the minimum was 14.1°C , the dew point 13°C. The maximum humidity was 82% and the minimum 58%.
The reported UV for today is 3 ( Range 1- 11+).

Good morning from Roda. It is another beautiful morning here. We have sunshine, a lovely blue sky and a few clouds around. They are not stopping the sunshine though. It was very pleasant eating breakfast on the balcony in the shade of the parasol. There is barely a whisper of a wind, and the sea is flat calm. Maybe might dare to put a toe in it later on. The visibility continue to be very good, but a haze is developing as the humidity rises.
Yesterday was lovely all day. The temperature has dropped roughly a degree a day, but in that sun it is roasting, and the last few visitors were enjoying it as they wandered round the businesses that were still open. We enjoyed a breakfast at Pirates followed by a coffee at Skouna. We will put a separate report on later about these last days of the season. The sea continued to calm as the day progressed and the wind stayed gentle. We had the most amazing sunset as some clouds had gathered. This lead into a calm and still but chilly moonlit starlit night. Again we enjoyed our walk back from the village, with the lights of Albanian villages, and the remaining lights around the bay being joined by a brightly lit ship passing down the channel.
The temperature at 10.00am on Monday 30th October 2017 was 15.3°C, real feel 15 °C, and the humidity 75% giving a dew point of 10°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 17.4°C (real feel 17°C) and the minimum was 10.9°C , the dew point 9°C. The maximum humidity was 61% and the minimum 53%.

Good morning from Roda. It is another lovely morning here. We have blue skies dotted with quite a few pretty white clouds. The humidity is quite low so Albania seems within swimming distance across the deep blue but ruffled sea. There is just a little breeze to take the edge off the heat of the sun. However it is lovely out on the balcony, and very warm in direct sun. There is a bit of a haze over our hills added to by the seasonal bonfires. The smoke isn't easily dispersing because of the lack of wind. Wood smoke, the sight and smell of winter.
Yesterday stayed good, with plenty of sunshine, but there were a few clouds to spoil it and just a little too much breeze. OK, I am trying to justify, mostly to myself, that I didn't go for that swim. I will, it is now a matter of principal that I swim in every month that I am here. The day ended with another great sunset before settling into a lovely starlit night with a half moon adding to the brightness. It did feel not as cool, but you do still need that jacket that was unnecessary during the day. Long may these day continue.
The temperature at 10.00am on Tuesday 31st October 2017 was 14.5°C, real feel 15 °C, and the humidity 68% giving a dew point of 9°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. Kalo Mena to everybody, have a great November. Sorry about the late report, but we had to be in Corfu town early. Whilst we are there we like to have a stroll around San Rocco square and visit the market. We never come away empty handed and it was no different today. We got just over a kilo of plums for 60 cents and a carrier bag full of cabbage, cauliflower and lettuce plants for €15, there must be nearly 50 plants there! I think the seller would have thrown in some leek plants but we have enough growing already. Back to the weather though. The day started out lovely with a clear blue sky, one or two clouds, a calm sea and very little wind. The smoke from the fires, (the first of November is the official start of when fires can legally be lit), was not moving upwards but spreading out horizontally to fill the valleys. As we headed towards town there were more clouds gathering, but it was still very pleasant and warm in the sunshine as we walked about. The clouds didn't build up until our return journey.
Yesterday started out lovely, but by mid-day the clouds were gathering and there was a chill to the air. We decided that it was just a tad too cool to go swimming. However, as the afternoon advanced the clouds cleared away to just leave some thin high wispy ones. There was still very little in the way of wind, and the sea remained calm with small rolling waves coming ashore. The evening was definitely on the cool side and we needed our jackets for our late afternoon walk into the village. Walking back in the dark there were a few clouds still loitering, but it was mostly a myriad of stars and a bright moon lighting up the sky. The lights of villages of Albania were very clear again, adding to ours around the bay. The quiet at night is amazing, but there are still one or two cicadas persisting with their chirps in the village.
The temperature at 10.00am on Wednesday 1st November 2017 was 13.5°C, real feel 13 °C, and the humidity 74% giving a dew point of 9°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 17.7°C (real feel 18°C) and the minimum was 11.0°C , the dew point 10°C. The maximum humidity was 70% and the minimum 55%.

Good morning from Roda. It is yet another glorious start to the day. We have blue skies with one or two pretty white clouds dotted around the horizon. There is practically no wind and the sea is deep blue and calm. The visibility towards Albania continues to be good, but behind us the November bonfires are creating quite a lot of smoky haze, particularly is some valleys. There is a chill in the air, but that is disappearing as the day heats up. In the sun it is hot, so breakfast again on the balcony. The air here does seem to be much cooler than some reported temperatures, but we were talking to friends who live in a valley slightly up the mountainside and they were many degrees cooler than us. Again Corfu and its micro climates. I have doubled checked the reading today as I didn't believe it. Both readings are within a degree.
Yesterday started out lovely, but the clouds came over. We were in town which was mostly sunny and very pleasant. Most locals are now in coats and jackets, whilst the tourists are still in summer clothes. The clouds built up as we were driving back to Roda, hiding the sun at times. However they quickly dissipated towards sunset and we enjoyed a lovely end to the day. The evening was very light as the moon was almost full and there were lots of stars. The lights of Roda beach were finally out as their season came to an end. The nights are just getting that bit cooler every day. We will be digging our heaters out soon.
The temperature at 10.00am on Thursday 2nd November 2017 was 13.7°C, real feel 14 °C, and the humidity 75% giving a dew point of 10°C.

Good morning from Roda. It started out quite cloudy with lots of mackerel type sheets of clouds. There were good amounts of blue, but not where the sun could shine. However as the morning has progressed the clouds are dispersing to give us good amounts of warm sunshine. There is again no wind to speak of, the sea is calm and blue and Albania is nice and clear. Our hills are masked by the smoke from the bonfires.
Yesterday stayed pretty good all day. We managed an hour on the beach, having it all to ourselves. The few cloudy clouds stayed on the periphery, until the late afternoon when these thin high wispy clouds appeared from nowhere to give a magical sunset. The sky was a picture of pinks and blues coming together in the end to give a beautiful red sunset. The thin clouds loitered in the evening, but we still had an almost full moon and stars. It is getting progressively cooler at night but still beautiful.
The temperature at 10.00am on Friday 3rd November 2017 was 13.8°C, real feel 14 °C, and the humidity 77% giving a dew point of 10°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is such a glorious morning here. If you looked at the sky you would be forgiven for thinking it was high summer. It is deep blue with only one or two tiny white clouds marring the blueness. The sea has picked up the colour as well, but is noisy as the wind has shifted. We can see the occasional wave coming ashore. The change in wind direction has affected the visibility, with neither Albania or our hills as clear as yesterday, despite the general lack of bonfires at the moment. Don't get me wrong, the wind has only strengthened a little, but we are due very strong winds and torrential rain next week, so we will enjoy what we have at the moment. Eating breakfast on the balcony, the heat in the sun seemed so much at variance with the shade temperatures I was getting on the other balcony where it was just reading 15°C.
Yesterday was a pleasant day. We had sunshine with lots of dappled cloud which did get in the way of the sun every now and then. The breeze remained gentle, and the heat in the sun was very pleasant. Our coffee is still being enjoyed in the sun. The glass panels have not yet been put in place. We decided there was too much cloud for the beach, and we had dallied over coffee with a friend so we headed back to do some gardening as there is a lot of tidying up to do before the autumn rains start. We have enjoyed some lovely sunsets over the last few days, but last night's was in a different league. We stood in awe, and I'm afraid that the photos don't do it justice. As we set out for a treat of a meal at the grill room one of the last cruise liners glided serenely passed all lights ablaze. We enjoyed our lovely meal at the grill room. It was so busy. The walk back after a nightcap in Pirates was lovely. The sea barely had a ripple on it and there was so much light from the full moon. The solitary cicada we can still hear in the village must surely be rubbing its wings together to keep warm!

Good morning from Roda. It continues to be lovely. We have a lovely pale blue sky, a gentle breeze, a deep blue sea. which is calm, and some haze. There are a few more clouds dotted around, but nothing that will get in the way of the glorious sunshine. Albania is less distinct as are our hills, though the smoke haze here adds to it. It is again cooler this morning, but still gorgeous and warm in the sun for our breakfast cup of tea. We must enjoy this weather whilst it lasts as next week looks decidedly wet and windy. This is this morning's view towards Nino's from our balcony, beautiful I think.
Yesterday stayed beautiful all day, the breeze did shift direction a little, which made the smoke go in just another direction. Bonfires at this time of year are a fact of life and indicate a change of season, I, for one, welcome the smell of olive wood burning, but admit it might be a problem for those with breathing problems. The day progressed through a so-so sunset (no clouds to make it one). The night was blessed with a full moon, no wind and a very calm sea. The general haze prevented Albania from sharing it's lights with us, mostly. But it is chilly once that sun goes down. The temperature at 10.00am on Sunday 5th November 2017 was 13.0°C, real feel 13°C, and the humidity 72% giving a dew point of 8°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 18.1°C (real feel 18°C) and the minimum was 10.3°C , the dew point 10°C. The maximum humidity was 77% and the minimum 61%.

Good morning from Roda. The weather is changing, bye- bye autumnal sunshine, hello autumnal storms. The sky was very cloudy this morning, with some blue gaps, and the wind is increasing all the time. The sea has turned a dark slate grey/green colour, quite ruffled and not very inviting. Albania can still be seen across the channel, but is much hazier as are our hills behind us. The winds are amassing clouds on the mountains. Maybe the birds know something about the impending storms as there was a huge flock gathered on our power lines this morning. They flew off before I could reach the camera. The heavy rains and thunderstorms are due to hit around four this afternoon. Must get wellies out of the camper!
Yesterday was gorgeous all day. In the sun it was so hot that you could be forgiven for seeking the shade. However the shade was quite cool! I wish now we had gone to the beach for a swim but we were full of our Sunday treat, a full English! We did however enjoy a walk around the village. We found Niko and Niki from Dolphin sat in the sun behind the restaurant with some of their ginger cats. Further up Sandy at Sandy's Arms was also enjoying the heat. We ended up at Tropicana which has had a slight makeover in that there is now a new piece of climbing frame/ jungle house for kids to scramble over, and what looks like a DJ set in the corner of the bar replacing the computer terminals. We wandered back home the long way passed Afrodite and were talking about a proposed new law about quads only being allowed off road. We will keep you informed as soon as we hear anything. Walking passed The Roda Inn two of the caretaker's children were busy building sandcastles on the beach. Dimitris and Paniotis were busy wrapping their changing rooms with breathable wrapping. The roof canvases having already been pressure washed. They were the final jobs in securing the premises for the winter. Pirates had some customers as they are still serving food, for how long we don't know. The village was busy as Nemos is always so with children letting off steam and The Drunken Sailor crowded with guests for, we presume, the christening of baby Izabella. The Grill Room had several customers enjoying lunch. The Drossia is closed for November, but Adonis always takes a winter break, but not usually so early.
The temperature at 10.00am on Monday 6th November 2017 was 15.7°C, real feel 16°C, and the humidity 68% giving a dew point of 10°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 17.9°C (real feel 18°C) and the minimum was 8.7°C , the dew point 11°C. The maximum humidity was 72% and the minimum 60%.

Good morning from Roda. Well the storms well and truly hit us yesterday evening. So we got up to lashing rain, a thunderstorm overhead, and powerful winds. There was a patch of blue but that quickly went away and it got so dark we had to put the lights on. Good job we battened down the hatches last night, though the garden took a bit of a battering. Much of the framework for the beans fell down as did a tall romanesque cauliflower plant. Steve still has to check on it. The thunder storm seems to be circling us, never completely going away. The temperature was falling, the maximum at 10am was 18°C, but had settled around 15.1°C . Odd! If there is a break we will make a dash and go out for a bit.
Yesterday started off with all the promise of this spell of stormy weather. We did get a few spells of decent sunshine, so we had a look at a swim, but too windy. Though in retrospect I think we gave up too easily! We spent a very pleasant afternoon picking the last few tomatoes (8 kg of green ones and a kilo of reddish ones!), and Steve always worries at the start of the year that we will not have enough. I have lost count of the amount of cherry tomatoes we have picked and the bushes are still covered. The weather forecasts said the real storm wouldn't start until late evening so we headed out early for a quick drink at Pirates. OK they were wrong, talk about getting soaked to the skin, good job it was warm rain. And the rain just continued once we got in, with sheets of lightning illuminating the sky to the sounds of rolling thunder. A ship was sheltering of shore last night, not sure if it is there this morning as the visibility at times is very poor. The temperature at 10.00am on Tuesday 7th November 2017 was 15.1°C, real feel 15°C, and the humidity 74% giving a dew point of 10°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 19.1°C (real feel 19°C) and the minimum was 10.1°C , the dew point 14°C. The maximum humidity was 72% and the minimum 64%.
