Good morning from Roda. We had a really lovely start to the day. It was cold, but we had clear blue skies, amazing visibility and a calm sea with the wind almost absent. However as the morning progressed some clouds built up, but we still managed our post breakfast cup of tea on the balcony. I stood on our north balcony overlooking the sea and the snow capped peaks of Albania and I could nothing other than the sounds of nature. The numerous little birds chirping away, some hens clucking and the gentle sound of the sea lapping the shore in front of Nino's. There was a solitary jogger making her way along the beach road and no other sound of humans at all. Peace. It does revive the soul.
Yesterday started off so wet and windy with thunder and lightning rattling around on the mainland. With thick heavy clouds clogging the upper valleys. Despite the wet start the drive to Corfu town was lovely. There was heavy mist in the valleys and the trees were steaming in the gentle heat of the morning. Coming back over Troumpeta there were clear bright shafts of sunlight illuminating Ericousa and the other Diapontian islands, with patches of the Albanian mainland also. It was quite a sight. As the day progressed the clouds started clearing and the very heavy seas also started to die back, just leaving the rollers by the evening. The sunset was very pretty with gorgeous streaks of palest pink trailing across the pale blue sky. The same pink touching the peaks of Albania. The night was clear with stars across the whole canopy as the moon hadn't got out of bed yet.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Friday 5th January 2018 was 8.0°C, real feel 8°C, and the humidity 68% giving a dew point of 2°C The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 12.4°C
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 13.2°C (real feel 11°C), and the minimum was 8.5°C , the dew point 8°C. The maximum humidity was 75% and the minimum 61%.
The reported UV for today is 1 ( Range 1- 11+).
UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice).

Good afternoon from Roda. It was a slightly disappointing morning. It was forecast to be quite sunny, but there was a lot of cloud and quite a cool breeze whipping around the edge of the balcony. The clouds and murk were edging down the valleys behind us and Albania was just about discernable across the channel. We did have some sunny periods, so we decided to walk to Acharavi in the morning to catch the cafe before it closed for Epiphany,(here it is pronounced epi-phany), where sturdy young men plunge into the sea to retrieve the cross thrown by the priest, and priests visit to bless with holy water and bunches of rosemary. It is a public holiday here. The wind continues to ease as the day progresses and the sunny spells increase. The sea is flat calm but a funny luminous shade of green. Overall it turns out mild with us discarding warm clothes by the early afternoon. The photos are of the view over the harbour today, a view taken a couple of days ago when it was rough, and one taken today of a cat amongst the poultry in the small holding behind Dimetra in Acharvi. In fact there were more than one cat. They seem to leave the birds alone.
Yesterday was a lovely day if a bit cool. We had a mostly clear sky, but then clouds started building up to the west. The great air clarity stayed with us all day, so we stopped what we were doing many times just to stop and stare. Oh, how I wished I had got my laundry done, but hey ho it will wait for another day as we are due a few more days of dry weather. The sunset was a riot of pinks and greys leading into a pitch black evening. The stars were so bright and so many as, again, the moon was absent. The temperature started falling and it did feel very cold getting well into single figures.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 6th January 2018 was 14.3°C, real feel 14°C, and the humidity 74% giving a dew point of 9°C The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 8.2°C
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 13.8°C (real feel 14°C), and the minimum was 5.8°C , the dew point 8°C. The maximum humidity was 70% and the minimum 62%.

Good morning from Roda. Once the sun rose above the hills behind us it has been sunny. We do have a fairly stiff breeze whistling around, but it is quite mild despite that. Our hills are slightly murky around their tops and the Albanian ones are nowhere near as clear as they have been. They have quite a cap of clouds around their peaks, and thin streaky clouds are scattered over the sky in general. The sea is flat calm though, so all in all a very pleasant and mild morning, much better than this time last year when it was bitter.
Yesterday after the cloudy start just got better as the dy progressed. The clouds mostly cleared giving us good long sunny spells. The breeze died away, and the clouds cleared from the valleys behind us. The sea was flat calm with barely a ripple on it. It stayed mild and very pleasant all day. The lack of clouds precluded anything other than an OK sunset, with its band of deep orange on the horizon. The night sky, again, was a delight with so many stars twinkling away. Despite the lack of moon there was enough star light to see the few small clouds in sky. It was mild enough to revive a cicada or two chirping away in the mild evening. It was 14°C at 11pm.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 7th January 2018 was 14.2°C, real feel 14°C, and the humidity 76% giving a dew point of 9°C The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 4.6°C

There are a surprisingly large number of earthquakes annually in the area around Corfu, fortunately they are all on the small size, latest one 2.2 magnitude. No damage or injury reported.

Some people reported feeling tremours yesterday, Dave, but the university of Athens reports only two very small quakes on the mainland ... one near Igoumenitsa at 11:30pm, and the other near Preveza at 10:50 am. Both were listed as 1.5.

Good morning from Roda. it is so mild at the moment, hard to believe that this time last year I was reporting on lying snow here and frozen spray from a burst water pipe.
Today the mild spell continues. We have quite a lot of thin high cloud which is still letting the sun shine through. We were basking on the balcony enjoying our breakfast. There is a gentle but mild breeze which will soon dry my washing. There is a bit of a haze but Albania is still quite visible across the channel. Some of the higher peaks still having snow. The sea is not as calm as yesterday having a slight ripple. It is already 15°C in the shade as I write this with our door and windows flung wide open.
Yesterday stayed beautiful all day. The morning breeze died away, and the sun shone from morning till night. The sea was flat calm with barely enough energy to form a ripple. Though warm and sunny, the colours were more muted, think water colours not oils. There was a beautiful sunset as more clouds had gathered by then, and the evening continued cloudy with just a few breaks to allow a couple of stars to shine through. It was very mild with the temperature at 11pm a pleasant 15°C.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Monday 8th January 2018 was 12.8°C, real feel 13°C, and the humidity 76% giving a dew point of 9°C. The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 4.2°C

Good morning from Roda. The pleasant mild weather continues. We do have an almost completely cloud covered sky with only a rare patch of blue, but the sun is making a valiant attempt to shine through them. The visibility is still good though and we can see that the snow has melted from the lowest peaks of the Albanian mountains. Ours are free from the clouds, and the gentle breeze isn't going to help much to help to get more blue patches. The sea is only slightly ruffled but I can hear waves breaking on the shore by Nino's. We are going to go picking myrtles this morning before the rain comes in a few days, we are also going to gather some sea grass (fikia) to go on the garden in the spring. This day last year we had frozen pipes and a temperature of 0°C at 10am, but the sunshine helped to keep spirits up.
Yesterday started off promising, but the clouds increased steadily to give almost 100% cover by the end of the day. The morning breeze faded away to almost nothing, and the sea still remains very calm due to the fact that the wind is from the south. There were enough breaks in the cloud for another one of Corfu's amazing sunsets. The night however seemed very cloudy with no stars of moon, but it was still very mild with the cicadas still chirping amazingly away by Makris Apartments. It was still 14°C at 11pm.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Tuesday 9th January 2018 was 13.4°C, real feel 13°C, and the humidity 76% giving a dew point of 9°C. The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 5.1°C

Good morning from Roda. The mild spell continues, that is the good news, however so is this very cloudy spell. We have a weak sun trying very hard to break through the clouds and succeeding every so often. There is a general haziness that is hiding Albania just about and making our hills quite grey. The sea is ruffled with small waves breaking on the shoreline. The breeze is a bit stronger than yesterday, so it feels a bit cooler, to fresh for breakfast on the balcony with no sun. However very nice when you think that this time last year we were still in single figures for the maximum temperature
Yesterday was very boring weather-wise. It just stayed cloudy all day, very mild for the time of year and calm. Not much in the way of a breeze, and the sea had little movement as well. Though by the evening the swell had increased enough for us to hear the undertow moving the pebbles. There was no sunset as the sky had 100% cloud cover then. The evening continued mild and we were surprised to hear both a scops and a little owl during our walk. The cicadas are still vocalising. It was still 15°C at 11pm.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Wednesday 10th January 2018 was 14.6°C, real feel 14°C, and the humidity 72% giving a dew point of 10°C. The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 3.9°C
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 16.2°C (real feel 16°C), and the minimum was 12.3°C , the dew point 12°C. The maximum humidity was 77% and the minimum 72%.

Good morning from Roda. We awoke to damp grey but bright morning. There had been rain during the night, but, judging by the ditches along the garden, not that much. We have 100% cloud cover with a lighter bit where the sun is trying hard to break through, but failing miserably. The is no wind to speak of and the sea is flat calm. Albania has retreated into the haze across the channel, and ours are toying with the same idea. So saying that it is still mild and a lot warmer than this time last year when we awoke to lying snow, so we mustn't complain.
Yesterday stayed dry despite the forecast. The morning clouds almost entirely got blown away by the increased breeze in the afternoon. We had good long spells of sunshine. The sea got up a bit, even getting excited enough to produce some small waves from the choppiness. The wind died away as evening approached and I am sorry to say that I missed the sunset! The fickle wind died away to give a calm night. There was some lightness in the evening sky and the odd break that allowed one or two stars to appear. Again it was a mild night with the temperature at midnight around 14°C.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Thursday 11th January 2018 was 13.0°C, real feel 13°C, and the humidity 76% giving a dew point of 9°C. The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 8.0°C
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 16.4°C (real feel 16°C), and the minimum was 12.9°C , the dew point 10°C. The maximum humidity was 74% and the minimum 64%.

Good morning from Roda. What a lovely morning we woke up to. Clear blue skies, with some clouds, outstanding visibility with the fresh snows on the Albanian alps glistening in the sunshine, and the ridges and valleys in great relief across the ruffled sea. We managed to get breakfast in the sun on the balcony, but the clouds over Corfu were closing in fast. Now we have lost the sun and it does feel much cooler, however, Albania is still basking in full sun!!
Yesterday had one or two short drizzly showers in the morning, then stayed mostly grey but dry, with heavy dark grey murk descending our valleys behind us. There was enough of a lightening of the clouds to give a pale pink/grey pallid sunset. The wind had been building up all afternoon, and so had the sea. The waves were quite big at the car park end of Almyros beach whilst we were gathering sea grass for the garden. The sea was still almost flat calm when we got back to Roda, but soon built up to give some waves, though not as big as the ones at Almyros. There was a prolonged heavy rain shower that soaked the ground and left large puddles everywhere. However the rain did die away mid evening and the sky cleared enough to allow stars to be seen. It had felt cool all day because of the rain and the damp.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Friday 12th January 2018 was 10.6°C, real feel 10°C, and the humidity 78% giving a dew point of 7°C. The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 9.3°C

Good afternoon from Roda. It was a cool still morning we got up to. There was no real wind, the sea was flat calm and we had a grey cloudy sky. However it was very clear, and the mountains of Albania with a fresh dusting of snow were dark and menacing on the other side of the channel. We didn't have the rain that had been forecast.
Yesterday, after the lovely start just got worse and by lunchtime we were having rain showers, some of them very long indeed and very heavy. The rains were easing off by mid-afternoon and the skies brightened, Albania reappeared from the murk and the sun even found enough strength to make an appearance. The breeze had strengthened a bit and the seas got a little more ruffled. There was enough clear sky to give us an amazing sunset (a photo of which I would love show you, but the computer and the camera have stopped talking to each other). The clouds got their own back by giving us some drizzle in the evening, which felt cold because of the damp air, as the temperatures are not really that bad.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 13th January 2018 was 10.6°C, real feel 10°C, and the humidity 79% giving a dew point of 7°C. The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 11.3°C
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 12.0°C (real feel 11°C), and the minimum was 7.6°C , the dew point 8°C. The maximum humidity was 79% and the minimum 73%.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was a cool clear day when we woke up. Both the sea and the wind were calm and the visibility wasn't too bad. Albania was still visible, brooding and dark on the other side of the channel. It gave a lovely backdrop to the ferry sailing past. Although it was mostly cloudy, it was quite bright, and there were a few blue patches but no sun as yet. The morning got progressively brighter as we walked into the village, We were watching pulses pf heavy rain funnelling down the gap between Albania and the Diapontian islands, with an occasional shaft of sunlight adding a biblical effect.
Yesterday was just a cool grey day, pretty uneventful. The sea was calm there was almost no wind and certainly no change in the grey clouds overhead. The sunset was just marked by a faint pink tinge on some of the clouds. However later on in the evening the clouds had cleared away quite a bit and we were treated to great visibility and a star strewn sky.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 14th January 2018 was 10.2°C, real feel 10°C, and the humidity 64% giving a dew point of 7°C. The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 12.9°C

Good morning from Roda. The cool but bright starts to the day continue. We have a fair bit of cloud around, mostly pale in colour, with some scattered blue patches. The Corfiot hill behind us seem dark and brooding, whilst the mountains of Albania are just a dark mass on the horizon. Both the wind and the sea are calm, but the sea is slightly ruffled and it is feeling quite cool. The sun is making a valiant attempt at breaking through the clouds as I write this. We are due more rain later on today and strong winds in the middle of the week.
Yesterday, after a cloudy start saw the breaks in the clouds increasing to give us some nice sunny spells in the afternoon. Because of the gentle light the views looked as though painted in water colours. Later on the clouds rolled back in and the sunset, again, was only marked by a tinge of pinkness in the clouds. The early evening brought quite a heavy shower, and we had no further rain that night.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Monday 15th January 2018 was 10.9°C, real feel 10°C, and the humidity 78% giving a dew point of 7°C. The maximum temperature this day in 2017 was 11.1°C
