I feel at times that we are turning into very poor copies of the young Gerry Durrell. Here are a couple of photos of what we have come across in the last couple of days. The hairy caterpillar was crawling across our path at Almyros, about 2" (5cm) long and hopelessly lost as it went backwards and forwards on the bare path. The terrapin (NOT fresh water turtle) was a medium sized one about the size of a tea plate. Obviously it had been sunning itself on the banks of the ditch at the side of our lane. It was oblivious to our camper as we were able to stop and photograph it at our leisure.
