Good morning form Roda. We are continuing in a settled spell. This morning when we got up it was so still and calm and quiet, at one point all that could be heard was the odd bird call. We have blue skies, lots of sunshine, no wind and a heat haze hiding the middle and far distance. Yesterday was the same as the day before, calm and muggy, with some respite with the afternoon breeze if you were near the sea. The evening was a delightful temperature, around the mid 20's and so still.
Today's readings at 10am on 4th September are:- Temperature 25.9°C (real feel 27°C) and humidity 67% (Dew point a comfortable 18°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 29.3°C and the minimum was 22.8°C, the maximum humidity was 76% and the minimum 61% The reported UV for today is 7 (Range 1- 11) Pink and burnt bodies alert, apply that sun screen!

Good morning from Roda. And still the hot settled weather continues, but for how long? The weather forecasts for next week are showing rain and storms. We have been here before and Roda has escaped, so we will wait and see what, if anything, happens. Today we again woke to clear blue skies, sunshine and a flat calm. Yesterday continued as it started, with the usual afternoon sea breeze fading to nothing by early evening. At 6.30pm the temperature was 30.2°C and the humidity was 67%, giving a real feel of 34.5°C and a humid dew point of 23°C (sticky). The lovely sunset faded into a pleasant evening with the fall in temperature the humidity fell and it all became very comfortable. We have been hearing reports of the temperature today being 40°C, none of the weather forecasts on the internet forecast that. I accept that these temperatures must be in full sun, we know, we 'cooked' a bag of plum tomatoes by leaving them to ripen on our south balcony! Out of interest I will put one of my thermometers in the sun and report to you both the shade and sun temperatures.
Today's readings at 10am on 5th. September are:- Temperature 26.6°C (real feel 28°C) and humidity 66% (a comfortable dew point of 22°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 30.3°C and the minimum was 21.6°C, the maximum humidity was 74% and the minimum 60% The reported UV for today is 6 (Range 1- 11) Not sure why it has dropped but still keep applying the sun screen.

Good morning from Roda. We have a change in the weather, there are some clouds around. They hid the sun a bit first thing in the morning but have cleared a bit to give us our usual sunshine. The wind is still barely there, but the same cannot be said of the heat haze. Think it will be almost winter before it disappears! Yesterday, for the most part, was a lovely hot sunny day. The afternoon sea breeze was much gentler than of late, barely changing the calm of the sea. It was a beautiful day for swimming with an almost flat calm and great downward visibility, you could see every stone on the bottom. The clouds gathered during the early evening to cool the day off a bit. We had been hearing reports of expected high temperatures in excess of the low to mid 40's for Greece, including Corfu, a little bit of digging around came up with one site that forecast these temperatures mostly for the eastern side of Greece. All the other sites including the BBC, accuweather, freemeteo failed to show anything over 34°C. The hottest ever day in Corfu since 1939 was 42.8°C on July 24th 2007, when the sun was just about at its highest in the year. Just out of interest I put a thermometer in full sun on our balcony at 1pm, I couldn't get a reading because it was higher that the limit of either of my spare ones!. Now I know why our tomatoes cooked! The electronic thermometer stopped at 50°C and the liquid one stopped at 55°C. Later on by late afternoon the reading had dropped to 47°C. Now you know why I keep harping on about sunscreen! However all weather reports report temperature as shade temperature, sheltered from any winds, as it is the most accurate way of ensuring consistency.
Today's readings at 10am on 6th August are:- Temperature 27.8°C (real feel 31°C), and humidity 69% (Dew point 22°C, getting humid) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 30.9°C and the minimum was 21.7°C, the maximum humidity was 69% and the minimum 55% The reported UV for today is 6 (Range 1- 11) Sun screen to be worn when in the sun. Protect the little ones, I see so many babies in pushchairs with their little legs and feet in full sun.

Good morning from Roda. There is a strange sky up there today! I can't see much in the way of blue!. Despite that it is calm, very little in the way of a breeze and the heat haze has lifted somewhat. Yesterday started off good, but a steady breeze developed which brought with it some clouds. By early afternoon we had a very light shower of rain which barely wet the ground. The sea, especially away from the sheltered Roda beach was quite rough, so we will have to see if there have been some changes, as so often happens after big seas. By early evening a lot of the cloud had disappeared and we had a beautiful sunset leading onto a balmy starlit night.
Today's readings at 10am on 7th September are:- Temperature 26.7°C (Real feel 28°C) and humidity 62% (Dew point a comfortable 18°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 29.3°C and the minimum was 23.8°C, the maximum humidity was 71% and the minimum 55%.
The reported UV for today is 6 (Range 1- 11) Have that sun screen ready for when the clouds go.

Good morning from Roda. We have blue skies, some pretty white clouds, lots of sunshine and the gentlest of breezes. Turning over during the night there was a very pretty dawn through our bedroom window, but not enough to keep me awake!. Yesterday morning the clouds cleared with a breeze to give a nice morning, but then they encroached again, building up from the west, though it was still very warm. The breeze dropped by tea time and by the early evening the skies had cleared to give a lovely warm starlit night after the obligatory beautiful sunset. Though the wind certainly got up again in the small hours.
Today's readings at 10am on 8th August are:- Temperature 26.3°C (Real feel 26.5°C) and humidity 54% (Dew point a very comfortable 16°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 29.1°C and the minimum was 23.6°C, the maximum humidity was 64% and the minimum 52% The reported UV for today is 7 (Range 1- 11) keep applying that sun screen it is still hot!

Good morning from a very different Roda. We have a complete cloud covering, and a cool feel to the day. The breeze though is quite gentle and the haze is not as bad as it has been. We are battening down the hatches for a 'rare' early September storm that is coming in from north Africa. We are expecting rain later on today with a storm overnight with very heavy rain and potential flooding. The bad weather will continue all day Thursday It should ease across to the mainland by the end of the night and we are back to normal after that. Though it should feel fresher. Yesterday became increasingly windy which whipped up the waves and brought the screens down in the beach front bars and restaurants. Though if you found shelter is wasn't chilly. Eventually the wind died down and we had a lovely clear evening.
The readings for today at 10am on 9th September are:- Temperature 23.9C (real feel 24°C) and humidity 63% (dew point a very nice 17°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 28.6°C and the minimum was 22.4°C, the maximum humidity was 62% and the minimum 48% The reported UV for today is 3 (Range 1- 11) Until the sun comes out there is little need for the sunscreen.

I don't know if I am supposed to post here, but I just wanted to say I am addicted to your weather reports, tuning in daily! Thank you very much Yes you posted in the right place.I am so pleased you enjoy my little reports, I try to make them as accurate as possible and hopefully informative. Please ignore the weather for tomorrow as we are getting a very rare September storm. The temperature has taken a nose dive and the heavens have opened. But after a day of storms we will revert to our normal sunny weather by Friday.

We come out on Monday to roda for first time so hoping for some nice weather Hi Jo Jo, although I cannot guarantee it, the forecast is looking good once this storm is over, and for the next five days which is really as far as they can accurately go. September can be a little changeable but any rain is usually very short and sharp and the fun can continue with hardly a stutter.

Good morning from a washed Roda. The rain started early afternoon and continued throughout the evening with only the odd break. Then around 11.30pm the thunder started and the rain lashed down and the night proceeded with a fairly spectacular thunder and lightning show with high gusty winds. We had battened down as much as we thought necessary but Steve still had to get up during the night to deal with some fly away stuff. We awoke to a partial scene of devastation in the garden as some of the taller plants had been blown down and plant pots blown over. There were however patches of clear starlit sky during the night, I have been told, and we awoke to scant areas of blue sky. It is still raining (fairly heavily) off and on as I write this, but it is still quite warm, 26°C at 11.25am. We are supposed to get more showers and the odd thundery spell today and then back to normal tomorrow.
The readings at 10am on 10th. September are:- Temperature 23.7°C (real feel 24°C) and humidity 78% (Dew point 20°C, expected because of the rain) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 27.4°C and the minimum was 21.2°C, the maximum humidity was 77% and the minimum 52% The reported UV for today is 4 (Range 1- 11) With this weather don't think anyone will be sunbathing!

Good morning from a fresher Roda. The rain has gone and we are left with a clear blue sky dotted with white clouds and a breeze that is making it feel much cooler than of late. Albania's mountains are capped with clouds and ours are more distinct but still hazy. Yesterday continued with the thunder and lightning storm and rain until midday, then it petered out altogether with just the occasional spot into early evening. There were several reports of electrical sub stations getting hit with some power cuts. Roda seemed to not far too badly. The roof on the Boathouse pergola was still in place (which we expected to go at the first puff of wind), we had some plants and plant pots blown over, but boats in Corfu Town and off Ericousa island suffered and got battered. All the boats sheltering in Roda's little harbour looked OK. It was still a warm night as people emerged from their rooms to resume where they had left off.
Today's readings at 10am on 11th September are:- Temperature 24.0°C (real feel 24°C) and humidity 75% (dew point (just) a comfortable 20°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 26.6°C and the minimum was 21.4°C, the maximum humidity was 85% and the minimum 72% The reported UV for today is 6 (Range 1- 11) I know it feels cool, especially in that wind, but that sun still burns, so sunscreen needs to be applied.

Good morning from Roda. The early morning freshness lasts, which is giving us sparkling blue seas with very white horses, and a clarity of vision that is giving us a clear view of Albania and our foot hills and mountains. The leaves on the trees in the woods behind us can clearly be seen. The sky is wall to wall blue with only Albania having a little dusting of small clouds around the mountain tops. There is a quite a breeze making it necessary to find a sunny sheltered spot for breakfast on the balcony. But all in all it is a gorgeous day. Yesterday wasn't great, we had a buildup of clouds at times that obscured the sun, the strong breeze whipped the sea up, even in Roda's sheltered beach, to give the swimmers a bit of fun with the waves. Though in less sheltered spots the waves became so big as to make swimming hazardous. As usual the wind died down in the evening to give us a very nice sunset and a clear starlit sky, but it was a lot cooler than we were used to and a light cardigan or shirt sleeves were needed.
Today's readings at 10am on 12th August are:- Temperature 23.7°C (real feel 24°C) and humidity 60% (Dew point a comfortable 15°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 25.9°C and the minimum was 21.3°C, the maximum humidity was 81% and the minimum 65%. The reported UV for today is 6 (Range 1- 11) That wind will be deceiving, so slap on that sunscreen before you burn.

Good morning from a sparkling Roda. We have wall to wall blue skies, endless sunshine, the gentlest of breezes and the only clouds are far away topping the mountains of Albania. The distant heat haze persists. The night was cool getting down to 18°C, but it has brought a freshness to the morning. The heat is building up as I type as it has chased us from our second lingering cup of tea on the south facing balcony. Yesterday was a lovely day, it started quietly and calmly but the afternoon breeze got up and the seas were still very high with waves pounding the shores outside of Roda's sheltered bay. The sunset was all pinks and greys, very pretty, and the evening wind died down to give a very pleasant night, it a bit on the cool side. It was 21.8°C at 11pm.
Today's readings at 10am on 13th September are:- Temperature 22.1°C (real feel 22°C) and humidity 69% (Dew point a comfortable 16°C) Yesterday's maximum temperature was 25.3°C and the minimum was 19.5°C, the maximum humidity was 70% and the minimum 54% The reported UV for today is 6 (Range 1- 11) it is still hot and that sun bites, so slap on that sun screen.

Good morning from a glorious Roda. It is a truly amazing start to the day, the blue sky with only a few decorative white fluffy clouds, sunshine and the merest breeze. The early morning autumnal chill of around 22°C has gone and we are warming up nicely. The usual haziness is present but that comes and goes a bit at the moment throughout the day depending on the humidity. Yesterday was near perfection, hot enough to satisfy the most ardent sun worshipper but not so hot as to be uncomfortable to walk around in it, and just enough breeze to cool hot skin. The sea was warm and calm in Roda, but fresher where the water is deeper. We had the usual very pretty sunset and the evening was warm and starlit, though by late evening it was getting a little chilly by the sea (22°C at 11pm).
Today's readings at 10am on 14th. September are:-
Temperature 23.0°C (real feel 23°C) and humidity 71% (dew point 17°C very comfortable) The reported UV for today is 6 (Range 1- 11) As one young man found out to his cost (last seen pouring a large bottle of water on his burnt neck and back), this sun burns. Plan your sunbathing, seek shade from 12 to 2 to have a drink and a snack, then enjoy rest of the afternoon. Go into shade when you feel that tingle. AND use that sunscreen properly! But above all enjoy your visit here, not much fun if suffering sun burn/ sun stroke or can't sleep because the sheets hurt too much. Sorry lecture over, but we do see some worrying sights every day.
