There is to be a village festival in Roda on Sunday, it has just been announced. There will be lamb, souvlaki, loukamades and other lovely treats. Also live music for the locals and tourists alike to dance to. It will be on the seaside road in front of the Afrodite. All the proceeds go to the benefit of the village, so come along and support Roda and have a great night as well

After agreeing to rent our new home in Sfakera 2 weeks ago we were invited to their village festival and must say that if you enjoy the Greek dancing in the local tavernas wait until you see all the ladies and men dressed in there costumes there were about 30 of them all dancing together in the square it was a treat so anyone who is there for the Roda festival will I'm sure have an amazing time .

At the moment there seems to be a glut of local festivals (panayris) in nearby villages, also the ground has been cleared just before Acharavi so it looks like there will be the annual festival there soon. Ok, this is not in Roda but there is to be a festival on the sea at St Spiridon in early August. It is suppose to be impressive with lots of local fishing boats with flares all across the bay. Then the usual food and dance. The TV cameras are to be there as well. We might have a look as I have never seen one of these festivals yet. There is a similar one in Kassiopi as well. Also Nymphes Prassinos taverna is having live Greek music every weekend it seems now from all the posters around. My ability to read these festival notices seems to be getting better!!
