I do believe this is the Franchi Squash Courgette - Zucchetta Tromba d'Albenga.........
The Trombone Zuccini

Quite right kaz & Chris- it is a squash/marrow and it seems to have originated in Liguria and does seem to love the conditions here in Roda. This is more about it:TROMBONCINO. Gil may be able to tell us more and the best ways to cook it.

Yes both right it gets it's name from the trumpet (Tromba)
My mother whenever she could get them said the name was zucchini>Mum used a couple of ways to cook them but the only one that I liked was when she used to just slice them like a cucumber and deep fry them but I'm sure there are many other ways.
Pretty large trumpet this one but would coinside with the Tromoncino (trombone or Tuba)Gil
