Hi Gill, we saw the little bridge, is it drivable or is it better to walk? It looked a bit rough. pete.

Hi Pete Well you go over the bridge and about 200/300 yards up you turn down a rough track its a bit bumpy and a bit overgrown but it's not too bad it's mainly used by locals but is quite private and as I said great for snorkelling. Here is a picture I have taken of one of our videos we didn't go there last year as we had my brother and sister in law with us and she couldn't have managed without her mobility scooter but for sure we will be go there in July just before the shelf there is a shallow paddle pool Regards Gil

The church where St Spiridon landed to save the island was painted earlier this year when we were there, both inside & out. Unfortunately there were too many workmen there to get inside. It's a shame to see the state of the tree outside of the door as I was very fond of that tree. One April, about eight years ago, Kostas from Roda Park helped to organise the most fantastic food festival there - outside the church and all along the top of the beach. There were dancers in national dress with a TV crew and the sun was so hot that tree provided the only shade. There must have been 50 of us huddled up against it. If you visit the other church, make sure you go into the cemetery as, on the right hand side are two very moving things to see. One is a very touching verse in memory of a young English woman placed there by her Greek husband. The other is Welsh National Anthem in rememberance of another lady who is buried there.

Many people do drive all the way from St Spiridon's Bay to the footbridge at the end of Almiros beach, but it is a bit rutted and very wet in the winter. The platform that was being used to lay the pipeline out into the bay was being towed back to Imerolia to avoid a storm, late last year, when it broke loose and grounded somewhere near to the beach Gil showed us. It has now been removed.
