There may be other couriers that are cheaper Pete and, in any case, some people may feel that it is worth it. As lisydaly says, the quick transit through the airport is a factor to consider. Bubbles laundry will iron your clothes too if necessary, but I have been here for a few years and I have never used an iron. I have found that many ex-pats don't even own an iron - a liberating thought if ever there was one!

You'll have to get yourself a good sized shed Pete and you could have a canny little business going there storing cases for a small charge. Lol!!!'

Because many people now take cabin baggage only the wait for hold luggage is much shorter than it used to be and there isn't the mad scramble at the carousel anymore, my daughter's flight landed at 22:20hrs and we were in the car at 22:40hrs, a similar time scale when I picked Jackie & Colin up the other week. When you way up the cost of soap, shampoo, deodorant, sun screen, after sun and mozzie repellent over here the cost of hold luggage is still worth it in my humble opinion. At the end of the day it comes back to the old argument about "£10" flights, it's the final price that matters regardless of the price of the hold luggage and I for one don't fancy a 3hour + flight with a bag either on my knee or under my feet because there is no room in the overhead locker. pete. p.s. - you try telling s.w.m.b.o. that she can't take several pairs of shoes & handbags with her!

I must say I agree with you Pete, when we arrived in Corfu in September we didn't have the long wait for our luggage that we have experienced in the past (come to think of it we haven't had a long wait for a few years now) and the same on our return at Newcastle. When you see the amount of stuff people try to squeeze into the overhead lockers its only a matter of time before there is a delay due to having to remove the "hand" luggage that cannot be stowed anywhere other than in the hold - and it wont be the cabin staff removing and placing it in the hold it will be the passenger(s) having to get off / on the plane and so forth with all the pushing and shoving that will result in. Unless I was staying in Roda for a couple of months I wouldn't fancy schlepping back and forwards to a laundry either. As you say, a £10 flight is never what it seems to be. If we told Kelly she could only take hand luggage for a fortnight she would opt for 2 weeks in Whitley Bay.
regards, Kath.

Yeah, we didn't wait long at all. Got off the flight, through 'passport control', both of us nicked to the loo & by the time we got to the carousel, we had a 5mins (or so) wait for our luggage. Met Pete & Debbie - Colin & Pete had a ciggie & we were in the car & on our way to Roda quicker than quick! Same on the way back at Prestwick - probably a 10 min wait at the carousel & that was it.

Just heard that Ryanair might be allowing one small bag to go board together with your handluggage. If so this will be great for us ladies to have somewhere for our purse, etc.

In a move that some might describe as Mr O'Leary trying to be "no more Mr Nasty guy", the outspoken chief has announced a relaxing of bag restrictions for passengers as well as reduction in baggage charges and an easing of booking conditions.
This and other changes will cover the period up to the end of March 2014, so it remains to be seen if the relaxation of restrictions will carry on into the busy summer 2014 months.
:: From December 1, Ryanair will allow passengers to take a second small carry-on bag (small ladies' handbag or small airport shopping bag) no bigger than 35cm x 20cm x 20cm, which will allow a bottle of wine or equivalent to be carried;
:: From January 5, Ryanair's standard airport bag fees will be cut from £60 to £30 at the bag drop desk, and from £60 to £50 at the boarding gate, bringing them into line with competitor airline standard airport bag fees;
:: From November 1, customers who book directly on the Ryanair.com website (i.e. not via travel agents or screenscrapers) will be given a 24-hour grace period from the time of their original booking, to correct any minor errors (i.e. spelling, names, routings) made in their original booking;
Very good news indeed :-)

Always remember Mr O'Leary is Irish and we have something called the blarney stone here.......we also have a good mix of pixies, fairies, and leprechauns, all of whom are famed for their story telling, and also the dire consequences of not saying good day to them. Has Mr O'Leary been round kissing a large rock and after travelling the country greeting the little people had permission to tell their fairy stories? More believable than him having a total personality transplant. Life wouldn't be the same without his outbursts - one of whichrecently was asking people who complained about him saying that obese people should pay for two seats, not one, if they would actually like sitting next to 'the fat bustard'.

This information is from Travelmole:
Ryanair has simplified its booking process as part of a series of enhancements to its revamped website.
The number of clicks needed to book has been slashed from 17 to 5 and there is now an intuitive booking flow, which helps identify the cheapest fares.
From the end of next month, a 'My Ryanair' service will be introduced, which allows customers to securely store their details so they can save time when making repeat bookings.
Next year, more enhancements will be introduced, including the ability to download boarding passes to smart phones from the end of February; a 'share the fare' option to allow users to share low fares on social networks and a 'fare finder' feature, due to be launched in April.
A mobile app will be available on all smart phones and tablets from May, while the airline will released tailored language websites in all its major EU markets during the year.
The revamped website also allows for the changes Ryanair announced on Tuesday - the removal of Recaptcha for individual bookings and a 24-hour grace period to allow customers to fix minor errors in bookings.

In the face of much scepticism, it may well be that Ryanair honours the range of measures it has recently announced as it strives to soften its image. With aircraft on order that require it to find 30 million new passengers, and in a market growing at less than 1%, it seems clear that it is looking for a larger slice of the cake. This can only be achieved by attracting new customers from its competitors.

I'm glad I prebooked this year. The flight home was a nightmare! Had an argument with a guy, cos he wanted me & Colin to move up, so he could have the aisle seat. But i'd prebooked & paid for it, so there was no way I was moving. So he stormed off down the plane. Last time I seen him, he was the only one still walking up & down the plane, with nowhere to go. Take it he eventually just had to take a window/middle seat. Rude old man that he was! Was a complete disaster, people all over the place. People blocking the aisle. Luggage everywhere!
I was all nicely sat down on my seat relaxing by this point.

Good old Ryannair - have just read on another site that they have cancelled all April 2014 flights from Edinburgh to Corfu - and they said they were going to treat their customers better! Hmmm!
