Well, cheapest for the time I want to go - including baggage & pre-booked seats (which includes priority boarding), is £252.91 per person, flying from Edinburgh. Prestwick is coming in at £281.50 per person for the previous week.
In comparison, flying from Glasgow with Jet2 - including baggage & pre booked seats is £344.98 & TC is £366.48. And the biggest laugh of all goes to Thomson, who want £461.98 per person!!!!! So it's a no brainer, really.

Jacks I can beat that - for the time we want (16th June) for 2 people with luggage/pre-booked seats etc from Newcastle with Jet 2 £702; Thomas Cook £735 and wait for it ... Thomson £1160.00 whereas from Manchester with Easyjet £340 - so even with petrol money a significant saving for us.

Ryanair's prices are beating flying Easyjet next year, so as soon as I re-arrange my apartments, Ryainair it'll be.

We were lucky this time (for once) and were able to book immediately the flights were released - since I booked the cost has risen by more than £100 for the pair of us.

The trend is definitely towards hand luggage only, but so many people still believe it is not possible. Maybe Carolb will tell us again how she managed to come out for a week with just a rucksack. Ryanair have said they will not rest until everyone travels without hold luggage ... even Aegean Airways now offer a 'GoLight' option to Athens from €24 per person. This is the future of air travel as it is seen today, but can you cope? There are so many choices if you think laterally - the most obvious using the services of local laundries and international couriers. We had a package sent over recently that weighed 20kg and cost €28 from Kent to Corfu Town - Bubbles Laundry in Acharavi will wash your clothes, collected and delivered, for far less than the cost of a hold bag. Is it time to change our thinking .... ?

Thing is, they don't have the room for all that b****y luggage. You should've seen the kerfuffle with people trying to find places for their cases on our return flight. They even shut one of the toilets at the rear of the plane to store luggage in.

I agree Jackie, and something will have to change. Clearly, people like Ryanair must have plans for what will happen when everyone comes over with just hand luggage ... at the moment it's a bit chaotic. A standard overhead locker on a Ryanair Corfu flight will hold just five rectangular cases of 55x40x20cm. The locker spans at least twelve seats, so where do the rest go? The maximum allowable hand luggage size is 56x45x25cm - or about 43% larger - and some companies, like easyJet seem to guarantee that bags of this size are acceptable but they may have to go in the hold, at no extra charge to the customer. Things are changing quickly and I guess it's up to us to take advantage of what's on offer, however difficult that is.

We used Bubbles Laundry several times this summer during our stay at Spiros Banos. The service is excellent and the last time we used it was the day before we came home which meant we didn't have to rely on the British weather to get things dry.....Also beach towels and things we leave out in Roda were fresh for our next visit. We will definitely be using Bubbles again next year. I like the idea of posting things out from the UK Steve, might have to look into that option!

The service from Bubbles Laundry is great, jpb - I have used them now for years. There was a couple who had their luggage delivered to Pipitsa's a few years ago and I was there when DHL delivered it, some two hours after they arrived. They were delighted. I don't know which company that was, but take a look at this ...

Just had a quick look at "sendmybag" - it's £39 for up to 20kgs, what happens to getting your bag back to the U.K.? at another £100 that's £139 return - thinks it's cheaper to pay for hold luggage at the moment. pete.

We've travelled hand luggage only for the past five years, and I would never travel with a large suitcase again. The first time was because of Ryanair - having to travel from Ireland to the UK before ongoing flights the next day to Corfu - and their ridiculous charges for hold luggage. I was aprehensive but soon changed my mind. The amount of stuff I got into the 'Ryanair suits all' case was amazing - chose light-weight crease resistant clothes and mixed and matched as opposed to taking a load of stuff I would end up not wearing. Pair of flip-flops in case, decent pair of sandals on feet, and no cosmetics, which I never use in Corfu anyway. The sheer bliss of getting off that flight in Corfu and waltzing out past the mayhem of baggage collection was wonderful! Got outside in five minutes - and had to wait for our Greek friend who was picking us up as he had presumed we would be ages getting cases and was only half way to the airport. If I needed to I rinsed stuff out - it dries in ten minutes, no need for a laundry, and borrowed an iron if I had to for himselfs' shirts. Try it - it's liberating!
