My wife and I have just booked up for 2 weeks in Roda next June. I was wondering what the sea fishing would be like at that time of the year. I principally fish for trout and salmon in Scotland but would like to do a bit of fishing from the shore when on holiday. I believe there is an angling shop in Roda and was wondering if they have a website.

I know quite a few of the locals fish from the shore in the early morning and in the evening, lots of holidaymakers try their hand fishing from the harbour rocks, one of our members Sthelenssaint has had his share of success on there, perhaps he will be able to give you some tips. The angling shop is located just over the crossroads from the village, not sure if they have a website, will try to find out for you. pete.

Sam's boats sell a little bit and another that sells a bit more over the crossroads, but nothing like we have in the UK. There is a shop in Acharavi, the next resort along (about a mile walk), which sells more bits and bobs. I usually take a couple of telescopic rods and reels and a small selection of end tackle and have caught a few over the years, float fishing bread from the shore and from the jetty. Only fishing for a few hours though and not that seriously with my son. You could always hire a boat for a few hours and try a bit further out. There are usually a few people fishing from the shore(including some of the locals). The water isn't that deep (about 4 feet at about 50 yards. My advice would be to take a little selection of hooks, floats and weights with you. Have a look at this link and it will show the jetty area........ www.justcorfu.co.uk/roda.aspDrag the little blue man on to the map to see a video tour of Road and the beach area. Also, this video posted by someone shows the beach area quite well..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFDP_kbD0XsYou can often see the 'mullett' from the jetty (up to a couple of lbs) Regards Tony
