Hi Cog, in previous years rolling tobacco has not been much cheaper than in the u.k. for some reason, although cigarettes are still much cheaper, the price will be the same wherever you but it, Roda Corfu town or at the airport because it is set by the government. pete.

Hi cog, I think you will find rolling tobacco is same or cheaper in U.K. I was asked a few years ago to bring cigarettes back, I checked the price before I left Sheffield. On checking prices in Corfu, I found they were cheaper in my local ASDA. Some-one on another forum put price of cigs in Corfu on the other week, I checked price in ASDA, ASDA cheaper. There is no duty free in Greece, so prices the roughly the same. Now alcohol, that is different, cheaper in Corfu. Bev

Sorry to dissagree Ausiechef but unless the cigarettes have gone up by 30 euros a carton overnight they are still much cheaper than in th U.K. 38 Euros in Greece, £56 in the U.K. Trust me on this one, i've not paid for any in the U.K. for 5/6 years, always get 6 months worth on each of my two annual visits. Although there is no duty free, tax is paid on tobacco in Greece but at a far far lower rate than in rip off Britain. pete.

Sorry Pete, the prices I saw quoted on the other forum, was 38E for 200 Silk Cut, in ASDA, they were £33.80. I'm not a smoker but I check prices if asked to bring back. Could be different for other brands. Each to his own.

I have just checked price of Silk Cut on Asda site. £66 for 200 and £33 for 100. Nearly double the price of cigarettes in Corfu. I was beginning to panic as I try and bring home enough to last for a while!

I have checked with Spiros Banos tonight, and the pouches are now 40g. A pack of ten 40g pouches of Golden Virginia is currently €64.

Not sure you are right about alcohol any more Bev - at least not in the supermarkets. The bars seem to be keeping the prices down however.

I found the price of alcohol in the shops has gone well up in price, over the past few years. Even the Metaxa!

Rip off Britain? Try rip-off Ireland for the price of a packet of cigarettes! 8.60 euro for 20 Silk Cut - and we aren't even allowed to see them them on display in shops etc. in case non-smokers run amok, get the urge to light up and actually buy 20. Cost a fortune for businesses to install cabinets to hide the cigs in case junior sees them - it isn't working - and yet junior can see bottles of booze on display on the next shelf. Backward thinking and nannying.
