Hi, new to the forum but not to Roda. Our first trip to Roda was in 1989, we've been about 7 or 8 times since then. Haven't been for about 5 years, but coming back at the end of June. Can't wait!

Thanks Pete . We're staying with Pauline & George at Christophi Appts, she's told me there's been a few changes. I think the one I can't wait to see it the hotel opposite the Odysseus finally being finished lol. Looking forward to catching up with Spiro and Aspacia (is that how you spell it?) at the Odysseus and Anna and Angelo at Alexandros too.
Just the two of us for the first week then being joined by another 4 for the second week.

The building across from the Odysseus is now shops & a restaurant. They never did turn it into a hotel, after years of saying that's what it would be!

well we'll see it soon. No doubt the Odysseus will be our first port of call. First time we went to Roda, all those years ago, we were newly weds on a budget, and we ate there almost every night. Every time we re-appear, Spiro always remembers us and goes to get his wife Aspacia to say hello. They remember our kids' names, in fact when the kids were young, she used to cart them off into the kitchens and we would eat in peace without the kids. Remember once we had a 7 year break, and yet Spiro still remembered us! Good times! Over the years we've introduced various friends and relatives to Roda, and they always go back. This years new person is our sons girlfriend. And our friends, who stayed in Sidari last time they went but did a couple of days in Roda and liked it, so there'll be a gang of us for the second week

Hi Wendy - in the time I have been in Roda, I have never eaten at Odysseus - who are Spiros & Aspacia? Can someone tell me? I thought Nikos ran the restaurant - are they his parents?

Spiros and Aspacia are the owner and wife - I hope they're still there. Spiros is tall with a moustache and dark hair, has a bit of a taste for Metaxa 2* as I recall lol . His wife always did the cooking. Nikos, as I recall, was the head waiter sort of guy, and also their son, I think. I seem to remember him doing his schoolwork at he tables many years ago.... I think they have 2 sons though, can't remember the other one's name. There's also an Odysseus in Acharavi, but the Roda one was first. When we first went there there were no apartments upstairs, no railings at the front, and no tiles on the floors, it was all concrete. And then when we went back 2 years later with our 18 month old son, it was the only place that served chicken nuggets, so we had to eat there all the time! Even now when we go, I feel guilty if we eat anywhere else..

Hi Wendyb, Nikos runs the restaurant now, his mum still does the cooking and his dad (he's grey now) pops in every now & again, his brother Fanis owns/runs the restaurant in Acharavi. The appartments above are where I stay when in Roda, you should have a look, they are very nice appartments (see maras appartments on roda pages). Am sure you'll get the same warm welcome as always, don't know about the chicken nuggets but they sell most everything still. Should imagine Roda will have changed a little since you're last visit but not the people. Enjoy you're holiday. Joolsd

I thought that Fanis was a taxi driver in Acharavi, jools - so who runs the restaurant in Acharavi?
Fanis is also the inventor who designed and made the famous 'Koumquat Pricker.'
