A quick walk around Roda yesterday revealed a little of the annual optimism we have come to expect from our friends. Angelos from Alexandros extended a very dirty hand to welcome me back - I guess he is hard at it as usual. Work continues on the seafront opposite 'The Corner', but I guess Dimitris is in the UK at the moment. Spiros No1 waved as he chugged past with a load of something (minus exhaust pipe!). Drosia was empty of tables & chairs and there was lots of activity by the kitchen. The palm trees around the Afrodite pool have already been pruned and the small gift shop next to Pirate's Bar has been gutted in readiness for the Banos family's latest project. Sadly, there were signs that the whole of the interior of Nostos Travel has been scrapped. I will try to contact Viki or Rena to ask about their plans.

Oh Steve, I do hope that Rena is there this year - we book any excursions through her and love to have a natter with her every day.
regards, Kath and the gang x

Cheers Susan. xx

Steve, almost reluctant to ask - have you heard about the plans for Nostos? I hope it isnt bad news.
regards, Kath.

I agree Kath - if Nostos close it will be a shame. In my opinion, they offered the best deal in the village - not the cheapest, but the best, and not all trips are the same by a long way. It will be sad if the cheapest wins the day.
I believe that Viki is not well and needs to rest for two months, so it is unlikely that I will see him in the village. They have a lovely house near to Almiros but, in the winter, they tend to stay in Corfu Town. Rest assure that I will get some news as soon as one or both puts in an appearance, but I think it is unlikely. I hope I'm wrong.
If there is anything you need in particular that you can't find an alternative for, let me know & I will see what I can do.
Steve

Aaah I thought you were going to say that Steve. As you say there are other options within the village for arranging trips etc but it was the personal element that we will miss most. I may get you to ask if Rena would mind me emailing her privately nearer to the summer as we would love to meet up with them for a catch up - thats if Nostos doesnt open which reading between the lines looks unlikely.
very kind regards, Kath.

hi Kath and others; reg. carhire , I think Steve told me that Nostos use(d) the cars of Loft. So incase you cannot make a reservation at Nostos travel this summer, you might consider hiring directly at Loft's car-rental , it's on the mainroad next to the children's karts where the ATM is. If you need their telephone number, ask me please. greets, Petra

Thanks Petra - we have used Dromeas for car hire for the last couple of years but always use Nostos (Rena) for excursions and her safe and also love to chat with her every day.
Racheyr, I would love to hear about Rena - really mostly hoping that all is well.
kind regards, Kath
