Hi, am thinking of booking a family holiday here next May 2011. Anyone has any thoughts on this complex? I don't book all inclusive holidays but the euro is so poor I thought I'd try it. Is the beach sandy? I've stayed in Acharavi before, is the beach similar? Thanks, Rachel

Hi Rachel - actually it's the pound that's poor against the euro and it's getting poorer all the time, meaning that you actually get MORE for your pound when you get here. It's 1.222 euros to GBP this morning and forecast to reach 1.30 by the end of August. Who knows where it will be in 2011?
The beach from Roda Beach up to, and including Roda, is sandy, unlike the beach at Acharavi which has a lot of pebbles.
I haven't stayed at Roda Beach and, like many all-inclusives, there will be mixed reviews as people's expectations do vary a lot. Maybe people who have stayed can tell you their impressions.

Rachel, I have some friends that have stayed at the Mitsis Roda Beach. They have also stayed in Roda Self Catering. They told me that the All Inclusive Roda Beach is fairly good, but one of the biggest attractions of going to Roda is to sample the many restaurants/bars and tavernas and to meet so many different people. Something that you are less likely to do while All Inclusive. Another thing that they mentioned is that again in Roda (like almost all of Greece), you can use any pool complex, not just the one you are staying at. The only provision is that you do not take your own food and drink in, which is fair. At the end of the day I suppose it's horses for courses, and depending on budgets, no.s of children and personal taste All Inclusive does have its attractions. From personal experience though, I would say that if anyone goes to Roda and doesn't try lots of it's restaurants and tavernas have to offer, and instead stayput most days in the All Inclusive site, they don't know what they are missing. The other thing of course to remember, is that if everyone went all Inclusive, many of the local restaurants and tavernas would go out of business and the resort itself would decline rapidly. The other thing as well is that if you shop around, you can get a 2 weeks S/C package in May for around £250 pp, or even less if you book flights and accomodation directly yourself. Get in quick with easyjet and a 4 bed apartment for £30euro's a night! regds Tony

I'm with you Tony.
I'd do the self catering & eat & drink out in the village, rather than go all-inclusive.
But of course, that's your kind of thing, then as far as I'm aware the Mitsis Roda Beach is a lovely hotel. Don't know anyone that's stayed in it, though, cos everyone I know goes self catering.

Hello
I stayed at Mitsis last May and it was fabulous.
we where holidaying on a budget so was ideal for us as we found eating and drinking out a little too pricey for every day.
The food at mitsis is very good and varied in the main restaurant and they also have 3 small beach front restaurants greek/italian and chinese which have a small menu but provide a lovely setting for varied eating.
accomodation is great and in may the hotel is not full so is quite peaceful.
Be warned pools are salt water unheated so ease in slowly as diving in is a bit of a shocker.
4 pools means your never overcrowded at that time of year.
