If you are visiting Roda in the next few days then get an umbrella. More than a drop of the wet stuff .... is needed to cope with the heat that we have been experiencing for a little while now. Try to drink 2/3 litres of water every day. It has been 32 0C today, in the shade, with no wind and high humidity. Everybody is wilting, including the dogs! Please make sure that you don't spoil your hard-earned holiday by becoming dehydrated - take a look at the advice from the BBC: Don't forget that the price of water is regulated by the Greek government and costs much less than it does in the UK. It is possible to buy 9 litres for 1.60 euros, so do not go without ... and make sure you get one of these ...

;D OK , although I've got an aversion to drinking water (spending most of my time at work on it !!) you have my vote on this...... BUT.... don't you think that wearing a Kilt in Roda is bad enough without insisting that I get a bikini with large pink flowers on it !!! Aw pleeeze....

In this heat, johno, a bikini's just a bit too much - just the pink flowers maybe? Now where is my camera?
I was in the Harbour Bar tonight when two young ladies decided that it was just too hot! They finished their cocktails, ran from the bar, fully clothed, and were still frolicking in the sea when I left to water my pumpkins. Maybe they are still there - the girls, that is ...

The high temperatures in Europe are spilling over into the UK which is probably why the south of England is much hotter than the rest.
In Berlin, temperatures reached 380C and some authorities have banned long swimming trunks because they soak up too much water.
Hungary has issued the highest level of heat alert, urging children and elderly people to stay indoors. It has started handing out bottles of water to pedestrians and drivers in the capital, Budapest.
Here in Corfu, the highest temperature for the month is recorded to be 35.70C and the highest humidity 91%.
Our two intrepid visitors who rushed into the sea fully clothed were typical of what is happening in Russia where half of almost 500 people drowned in July, had been drinking. Russia is facing its worst drought in 130 years and temperatures in Moscow were expected to hit 370C this weekend.
Meteorologists attribute the heatwave to a zone of low pressure north of the UK and high pressure around the Mediterranean but international climate experts are at a loss to explain why these local phenomena are happening all at once.
Please take care and drink, drink, drink ... but don't swim after alcohol!

Although it has been overcast for most of the day here in Bournemouth (as far south without getting wet), with the sun poking through now and then, it has been very humid. Last night we were out celebrating a birthday, and decided to wonder down to the beach at 1130pm. There were a number of lads and lasses in various forms of undress frolicking in the sea water. It was enticing, but alas, our taxi was due to arrive.
