In Roda today, as in all of Greece & the Balkans, everyone is making Vasilopita. This is a traditional New Year's Day bread or cake and may contain a hidden coin or trinket which gives good luck to the receiver. In most areas, it is associated with Saint Basil's day, January 1 st, and ours arrived just an hour ago - still warm!

I baked the cake, and Elaine got the trinket. Honestly, not fixed in any way at all. It was good luck to everyone, and went well as part of our Greek Dinner party.
