Ok - so we are coming to the end of the 2008 summer season here in Roda but we do still have another two and a half weeks before the last direct flight takes off.
So, simple question, Steve and I will still be here but will we be on our own? No, I hear you say? Then let us know when you'll be here.
The FGTs will continue to the last week and we have guests until the 2 November. We know that Lynda101 will be out for that last week but we want to know who else is coming, please? ;D

Hi, I will be hear until 31st Oct when I then leave for London and the winter returning to Corfu sometime in April. ;D Although I was thinking about coming back for Christmas and the New Year, which is what I usually do, but checking out the prices I am not sure sure this will be possible as Aegean want 444 euro ! and the times are not good. I also checked out Easyjet and Ryanair for flights to Venice then the Minoan ferry but getting the really cheap flights at the moment are not displayed, I will have to wait for their newsletters to bag a bargain I presume. As I work in London I can only have limited time off so I only miss work for a week. Has anyone any idea about the Corfu Christmas flights this year yet ?? who doing them and dates, cost etc

Hi ya, I phoned Lord Travel in Corfu Town on Friday and they said that there was not going to be any Christmas flights this year and that if I wanted to come to Corfu I would have to make alternative arrangements hopefully this will change nearer the time !

According to Allways Travel the sheer cost of hiring/using the planes for Christmas flights will push up the ticket price to such a high level they just wouldn't be viable - hence no flights this year.

We heard the same today Anita. From memory, the airline used was Astraeus - perhaps they could be checked out if they haven't been taken over!

Hi lisydaly - I don't understand the difference between 2007 & 2008. If the airlines could put on Christmas flights last year, why not now? How did Allways explain that?

Don't know what the explanation is - I was told by two friends who spend most of the year in Corfu but who go 'home' to the UK for Christmas and new year. Maybe in the dodgy financial climate nobody wants to commit to putting the flights on. We have another friend who was hoping to travel to Corfu on one of the flights going from the UK to collect passengers and take them back after the holiday who has also been given the same information. He has now booked via Athens. I do know that the cost of the tickets Christmas just gone was high so again maybe it's just that - the cost. For a family it was astronomical. It's affecting everywhere - we are flying from Ireland Shannon to Newcastle for new year and I nearly fell off the chair when I saw the cost for two of us. Add on fuel to get to Shannon (about 3 hours away) airport parking, dogs in kennels for five days and it works out rather more than we expected! And now thanks to the budget we have to pay a tax to leave the country! All good fun.
