Hi - following on from my note above - the book is actually The Greek for Love by James Chatto - well worth a look. Janet. I have also read this book and will highly recommend it.....along with the tissues Erica James - 'The Holiday'.....a summer spent on Corfu is another good read. I just tend to take my books for a holiday as I hardly ever get one finished as I'm too nosey ( a bit like Jackie.....lol )....and Grandchildren keep us busy. I do tend to buy a newspaper everyday (bit of a rip-off) but it keeps us up-to-date and is an easy read.

If you want to read something that will keep you abreast of world events from a Greek perspective, try the weekly English language newspapers Athens News and Athens Plus. Often these contain quite different viewpoints from what you are used to reading - both very good.

Thanx Susie, I will bring a book or 2 but staying for 4 weeks means I have to be careful what to bring... do you think I can just go there and borrow one of the books although I am not staying in Makis' ?

Petra, you find that most of the travel places (HN Travel etc) have a library - if you take a book in you can exchange it for another book - Most poolsides end up with books being left, so the owners keep them so that people can exchange. AND, Crusoes used to have the same facility....don't know if they still do, but I'd assume so.

As Jackie said, Petra, most bars, accommodations and travel offices have a book swap. Some do ask that you swap like for like but not all do that. I was quite impressed with the number of books that Alexandros had in the bar available to swap and I must look at Nostos Travel's selection! ;D Julie
