The following news article is taken from the online Greek and English newspaper, "The Kathimerini", Thursday 28th May 2009. The annual beach report from the non government European Group on the beaches of Greece. We know the beaches are very good, but it is nice to see it recognised.
Yeiamas, Chris
Clean beaches
Greece retained its second place to Spain in an international ranking of Europe’s cleanest beaches, although five beaches lost their “blue flags.” According to the Denmark-based Foundation for Environmental Education, a nongovernmental group which operates the Blue Flag scheme, Greece has 425 prime beaches, down from 430 last year.
