Tomorrow saturday 18th of april from 10.30 / 12.00 h. In Corfu town there will be a big event : the "throwing of the pots", called Kanates. The first pots are thrown at the stroke of 11am here, so 10am in central Europe and 9am in the UK. All the others follow very soon after! We'll be there with the camera and the video, so keep a look out on the forum tomorrow evening!

Have fun on the Kanates Steve and Julie, but do stand clear from the pots. I can always remember watching a Keith Floyd cooking programme where he was touring Corfu, and they began throwing the pots, and the Police had to drag him out of the way.
Look forward to the pictures.

Hi Steve, Julie, see you are online again, How was your day ?? This morning I saw part of the Kanates-throwing on the corfuland -internetwebsite, it was wonderful, saw a few really big pots (must have been 1.50m high or so) thrown off the balkonies. Unfortunately I could not see all of it because I had to see Kellys tenniscompetition as well..... Looking forward to your videos, did you manage to get close??

Thanks Petra - great day, great weather, great trip in on the boat, but we're tired now. Will post pictures as soon as possible. We were so close that Julie's trousers got splattered with dust and water from the pots showering down into the street and one man nearby stepped out at the wrong time and was hit on the head. When the ambulance came for him he seemed to be OK, but shaken. He went off with an ice pack on his head. Tomorrow - we eat!!!
Steve

As Greek Easter festivities are extra special in Kerkyra/Corfu, people from all over Greece come to Corfu for Easter, it was on the news as well...
and one more video, filmed from upstairs...
