For any new forum members, by far the best way to take your money to Roda is to open a Nationwide flex account, the card allows you to draw cash from hole in the wall at no charge and at a better exchange rate than the banks or travel offices. It is easy to obtain one, it can all be done on line and from applying to receiving your card it takes less than 2 weeks. Pete.

There are two "hole in the walls" in Roda - the Emporiki and Alhpa bank - about 200 yards apart. pete.

It is easy to obtain one, it can all be done on line and from applying to receiving your card it takes less than 2 weeks. Pete. Following on from Pete's recommendation for the Nationwide Flexaccount for use on holiday, I wanted to add a bit more. Nationwide Building Society is Britain's largest building society and for sometime its members have resisted voting in favour of becoming a bank, therefore retaining all the benefits that a building scoiety traditonally has over a bank. It's award winning current account Flexacount has many advantages, incuding a good interest rate, easy access and free day-to-day banking. But for people going abroad, then it's biggest advantage, as Pete mentioned above, is that, as long as the account is in credit, there are no charges for using the card abroad, either as a debit card for purchases or to withdraw money from a cash machine (ATM). Some credit cards and perhaps some debit cards do now offer no charges on purchases made abroad but, as far as I can find out, the Flexacount is the only card to offer free cash withdrawals. In adddition, in our experience, we have always benefitted from a good exchange rate. It is always higher than any exchange service locally and beats exchange rates offered on the high street. We use the Internet banking service offered by Nationwide, so we regularly check the rates etc. It also offers us increased flexibility with other accounts held with Nationwide. Although, of course, Nationwide would prefer you to use the Flexacount as your main current account, it is not compulsory. I know many people who use it just for their holiday money. It's a great way to save for your holiday, and then taking out small amounts whilst abroad, rather than taking all your money in cash or travellers' cheques and safer too. To find out if a Flexacount will be of benefit to you, check out their site by clicking here.

As Julie & Steve say, you don't have to have this as your main account, i only use mine when in Roda, it's also a good way to save up your spending money, anytime iv'e got any spare cash i pop into a branch of nationwide & put it into my flexaccount. pete.
