41% of all UK holiday bookings are now from groups of between five and ten people which suggests that multi-generational holidays are on the increase.
An increase in bookings for between five and 10 people (now 41% of all passengers) suggests a rise in multi-generational holidays.
There has been an increase in holidays of shorter duration as visitors try to watch the costs, but TUI say that they make just as much money from an 11 day stay as a 14 day. So the customer gets less, the accommodation owners get less, but TUI get the same. That doesn't sound like a fair deal to me.
All-inclusive bookings are up by 23% as tourists are persuaded to go to large or company-owned complexes in less friendly countries.

The general findings I am seeing through my contacts with Travel Agents, Tour Operators and online networks is a trend towards the cheaper package deal, and a bigger increase in the DIY Holiday, where by the customer is searching for a cheap flight, and then accommodation sometimes at source, ie, at the destination direct.
According to the TAs, TOs etc, this is because of the downturn in the financial world, and the Credit Crunch. Personally I think this is a continuation of what has been taking place long before the crunch, and all the crunch as done as answered that final question for most.
It is evident from figures that people are still travelling to Europe, and I believe will continue to do so. There is no where in the UK that can offer a holiday anywhere near the price of one in Corfu or anywhere else. My home town of Bournemouth is hyping up the Credit Crunch and recommending holidaying in the town. Although there is nothing to do in the town (it has been ruined by night clubs, bars, and rif raf). On top of the costs of getting here from other parts of the UK. We know the cost of fuel, we know the cost of public tranport, but at the same time the cost of the average hotel in town is £700 and £1500 for two weeks room, or £400 - £500 for a holiday park accommodation. These are all prices for the beginning of September.
Friends of ours have just booked two weeks on Corfu, staying in Gouvia, B&B, total cost for two persons, including flights and transfers, £680.
Where would I go if I could, abroad.

It's good to get a true comparison, Chris, and on top of that there are daily expenses which can be quite substantial. In addition to everything you mention is the unreliability of the weather which, if it is not too good, escalates expenditure even further. I dread to think what it would cost at the height of the season - but I know that you will get a lot more for your money over here.

Normally around the middle of the school summer holidays, the Head of Leisure and Tourism for Bournemouth calls in figures and then publishes them. When this happens this year, I will get the figures, and maybe someone can do the same in Roda, or wherever, and make a true comparison.
It should be good to see the differences.

Hi Chris,
My adult offspring decided to book a caravan through the sun, the £15 pp holidays... total cost £320 for 7 days 1st June two bedroom... I have queried it because to me thats almost a holiday in corfu for 2 weeks ... ok all three of them going but come on, if the uk holiday companies want us to stay in england and the iffy weather they better start competing! So much for a cheap holiday, no such thing!
Still miffed, can you tell lol Treece

I totally agree Treece. My sister is staying at a Holiday Camp near to Bournemouth (she lives away). It is costing £720 for her, her hubby, and three children ages, 10, 12, 13. For one week.
If you were to search, I would imagine one could find an AI for that on a deal somewhere.
