The sea was flat calm, the air was clear, the sun was shining and out at sea, sailing past our gates, Captain George was setting off to Corfu Town with a group of happy holidaymakers relaxing on deck and enjoying the spectacular coastline ...... STOP, WAIT A MINUTE, IT'S ONLY MARCH!!! I've got it, Helen is back from the UK, and today is the day when George sails his boat to the yard at Gouvia for it's annual maintenance and inspection. Everyday now, he will be travelling back and to, working long hours just to get the boat into fine fettle for the coming season. Each passenger boat must do this every year and they all need a certificate of seaworthiness to be allowed to operate. The season is obviously getting closer and you can book a trip with Helen outside of the Roda Inn or by contacting them directly on:

I can thoroughly recommend them Steve - you won't be disappointed. I have done a couple of write ups in this section - the Durrell cruise & Erikousa island. Pete.

We always finish our fortnight with the Bond cruise. Perfect way before heading home. First time we did it ended up in 6-8 foot waves, thoroughly enjoyed it I was sitting on the bow with feet over edge. Tried the Mitsis Taverna last year for lunch. Will be trying the other one(Olive Tree?) this year.

We're intrigued, aussiepair, where is the Mitsis Taverna and the Olive Tree?

The spelling could be wrong on Mitsis(Mitsos?). Both these tavernas are at Nissaki where George stops for lunch. The Mitsos is right on the quay as you walk off the boat. The Olive Tree is round the quay and up some steps.

Helen is back outside of the Roda Inn today for the first time this year and George's trips will start again in the next few days. If you are visiting Roda for the first time or have never been on one of these trips before, make sure you do this year. The first trip will probably be along the spectacular east coast of Corfu to Corfu Town - one of our favourites and the best way to visit the island's historic capital!
