Jan we are both thinking of you at this sad time when I was personally going to go to Roda for the first time with Paula who had been previously she would read to me yours and Steve's daily blogs. When I arrived so accurately were they it was exactly as described. Steve a brilliant writer. We were fortunately to meet you on our first stay in 2014 and loved your company at the various forum meetings we attended. I am hoping to arrive Sept 18th for a week when Paula is away with her sisters and will pay my respects then however Paula and myself are already booked for August next year and she can then. Steve was a lovely man and at 8 tomorrow night we will both clap then raise a glass to him. All our love to you Dave and Paula xxx

Yesterday the morning clouds cleared and it was a beautiful sunny evening, a perfect Roda day for the occasion of Steve's funeral. There were almost 60 people at St George's in Roda, many standing outside as the little church was full. A nice service and words from the Priest before we all filed past the open coffin to say our goodbyes. Onto the Sfakera graveyard where Steve was buried, by the back wall in a nice sunny spot. Again a very nice speech by a Roda resident (Greek) about Steve and his involvement in the village life over many years. We then drop some soil and a flower onto the coffin. Jan then went onto the Tropicana for coffees and I,m sure many stories of peoples good memories of times with Steve. Yes a sad day but it was a perfect day and a good send off to a gentleman who we will all miss. May he Rest In Peace.

I want to thank each and everyone of you who sent me their kind words, thoughts and condolences after the death of my lovely Steve. He was much loved and respected by so many people both here in Greece and amongst our many friends who visited Roda. He so loved Roda, Corfu and the Greek people that it was right, and indeed ,his fervent wish, to have the service in the little church in Roda that he loved and buried close by. He had a perfect send off with a short service in Greek with a few very kind words spoken by the pappas at the end. He looked at peace under his quilt of fresh flowers, flanked by columns of scented lilies. He is buried in a quiet part of the cemetery with an olive grove on the other side of the wall. He was dressed in his Artisans polo shirt, and his usual summer attire of fawn shorts and his leather sandals. Kalo taxidi my love.

Thank you to everyone for their lovely kind words after Steve sadly lost his fight with cancer. I am, of course, lost without him, as he was always there beside be. I have just been reminded by my ticker that he died 7 years and 1 month after our life together started in Roda. We arrived on the 1st of May 2013, after a made 6 week journey in the old camper through France and Italy. He slipped away on the 31st of May, peacefully and painlessly, leaving me with enough memories to last a lifetime. I am driving our camper to and from the shops and am heading into town tomorrow on official business. Steve would expect nothing less. I am trying to get enough courage to tackle the wilderness that was his beloved garden. I will be resuming reporting the weather shortly after I have had a chat with Dave.

Always pationate about Roda like we have been for the last 30 odd years. Will really miss our chance meetings here there and everywhere. Still don't know what's happening this year, but if not this year next year we hope to see you around roda. You have got big boots to fill to keep all the news and everything Roda coming our way. Was clearing out a dusty corner in the flat and came across Steve's photo CD's mostly about Roda from the early 2008ish onward. I will go through them and post any interesting ones. Those were lovely words Wally, it will be difficult to step into his shoes, but Dave and I will do our best for Roda and Sfakera. Sometimes my mind is elsewhere, so if it looks like I am ignoring you, when holidaying out here, please make yourself known to me. No offence is intended, but I relied heavily on Steve to keep me right. Am going to have a walk around the village and take some photos to put on here to tempt you all Jan
