All are getting ready assuming tourism starts on 1st July...….I've not yet heard of anyone who says they will not open. They only get money from Government if they are told MUST be closed so I assume all will open if there is a tourist season.
It all depends on whether or when the UK becomes acceptable to the Greek Health Authorities as to when or if places will open. Some venues like the boathouse are waiting to see. Currently tourists can come her via Athens or via ferry (since 15th June) but there is sign of very few in and around Roda. A small group of eastern europeans and odd couples about but not enough to make the bars and tavernas all open. Most accommodations are only for the UK market so are still closed; those with Tour Operators will be forced to open when the UK available to travel but those who are Independent may well stay shut for the season as there are extra costs when open to satisfy the Rules for Covid protection. This can mean apartments not fully booked are most likely to run at a loss.
Some other places are only open winter hours.....like Red Chilli Indian, just Friday, Saturday and Sunday after 5pm and weekdays for takeaway only. Crusoes has yet to open and is monitoring the situation re number of tourists about as are many other places.
Basically Roda is still very much like it is in the winter during the day. I will take a daytime stroll around Roda in next few days and report back
Off the summer bars, Alexandros on the Beach (Golden Sands) is opening today at midday. Robella opens on 1st July and will have guests as they do not rely on the UK market. Roda Oasis have said they will be open.
The owners of New Port are here getting ready to open....not sure of a date as yet.
The year round places are open, i.e. Alexandros Roof Garden, Pirates, Nemos, Oscars, Tropicana, Drossia, Red Chilli (weekends to sit in, weekdays take away only). The grill rooms are open (except the one on the beach front on way to Acharavi. The coffee bar at the crossroads is open.
I am hearing that Nino's is unlikely to open this season.
I believe so; many places are ready and just waiting fo rthe UK tourism to start.........Roda is 85% dependant upon it. From all accounts there are just 9 roumanian tourists here at moment. International flights start on 1st July so that should see an increase (you have to come via Athens or by car/ferry at moment) and in this respect if you are coming before the end of August please see the last entry I put on the Covid19 thread as papers will be required 48 hours before you travel.
Depending how many arrive next week will determine if they open or if they wait until the UK is open to tourism.
Aris and Demetris had told me that they will be opening on Wednesday 1st July. Demetris got held up in Scotland due to the virus and has just completed his 7 day quarantine. I will be there tomorrow sometime to welcome them back Jan
