Friday Max 13.1c, min 7.6c. Was a cold chilly very cloudy start to the day. It stayed that way with very light drizzle or just spot sof rain in the morning. It rained lightly from 13:15 constantly until gone 21:30.
Saturday Max 18.9c, min 10.1c. woke to rain but it stopped by 8am, sun was out by 10am. Passing clouds gave hazy sun and some shade but the sunny intervals were very short, initially. Bit longer in afternoon and a gusting breeze turning to a light wind. AFter losing the sun at 5pm it returned shortly after until sunset as the big grey bank of clouds stayed mainly below the level of the sun. Partial starlit night.
Sunday Max 17.8c min 12.1c. Almost full cloud at dawnbut some of it thin. It was a nice morning and the sun broke through, albeit hazy. Around 13:30 the clouds thickened but we had more good unshine after 17:00 until just gone 19:00 when the clouds finally won the day.
This morning we wake to full cloud cover.
We have been lucky here to miss the forecasted weather front so far. Northern Greece is blanketed in snow; heavy in places. Other areas have had plenty of heavy rains and some flooding; causing farmers great concern over crops in what is already a very difficult year.

Good morning from Sfakera; just before dawn the full moon shines brightly over Karousades to my west; ot is otherwise still and dark but looks cloudless.
Monday max 19.8c, min 11.1c. The sun cleared the clouds as it rose and we had a nice sunny morning with a light breeze. The other clouds took time to clear so we had shade from about 1pm for several hours but again a lovey sunny end to the day apart from a brief period around 6pm. After the wind eased late afternoon it was very pleasant in the garden indeed.
Tuesday max 21.3c, min 11.9c. Early high thin clouds soon dispersed to give us a day of wall to wall sunshine with a light wind; picking up later and gusting to F6 at times briefly mid afternoon. The odd passing cloud briefly interrupted the sun. A lovely starlit night with a full moon.
We have missed the last of the bad weather front; Grerece had more snow in North central areas and some bad flooding; over 300,000 stremma of farmland was flooded. The forecast is set fair for the next few days making it harder for people to stay indoors, especially if the have no garden......I noticed a higher footfall pass my house yesterday.

Good morning from Sfakera; for those in the UK enjoy your Easter; it is Palm Sunday here with Easter next week although to watch on TV only this year.
Wednesday maximum 20.8c minimum 11.3c Thursday max 21.2c min 9.7c Friday max 21.1c min 11.8c Saturday max 21.9c min 11.5c
It has been 4 days of wall to wall sunshine, early sea fog (more so yesterday) and just the odd passing cloud or a few fluffy hanging around over the hills. The sea blue and nothing more than choppy during the afternoon winds. The winds gusting to F4 at times but warm and being outside is the place to be; I feel for those who don't have gardens during the lockdown as while you can go to the shop or out for exercise time is limited. Today looks set to be the same.

Good morning on Easter Sunday here in Sfakera; high clouds around and the sun will be up but we due a warm cloudy kind of day.
Wednesday max 19.3c min 14.0c. The sun was out by 8am and then a wind picked up and the clouds moved away rather quickly to give us a sunny day with passing clouds. The afternoon wind was rather strong in gusts up to F6 and the season whipped up into whitetops. The wind stayed on very late into the evening; well after a bright yellow sunset and the start of a starlit night.
Thursday max 21.3c min 10.3c. A good bit of sea fog and high haze around early. Sea was calmer and the sun was out with a more lighter wind gusting to F3 at times. Passing fluffy clouds, some stopping over our hills didn't affect the sun. A light yellow almost silver sunset and a starlit night.
Friday max 22.1c, min 11.1 c. Lot more sea fog and hazy cloud with Albania just an outline. Sunny with a light wind; bit of early afternoon cloud soon moved on and the gusting wind picked up to F4 at times but eased around 4pm. Another lovely silver yellow sunset and starlit night.
Saturday max 22.5c, min 11.2c. Less sea fog and high thin hazy clouds but the sun rose and it was a sunny day with a light afternoon wind. ANother similar sunset preceded a starlit night......and being Easter the locals still ignored their isolation to be outside with fireworks and gunshot at midnight.

Good morning from Sfakera; bit delay getting out to get online due to weather as you will see....
Easter Sunday....max 23.1 min 12.1. A sea fog and high thin clouds but the sun was out occasionally in morning and the afternoon light wind cleared it more to give a nice sunny afternoon, eaerly evening; Albania became visible again. Just a partial starlit night.
Monday max 18.2c min 14.2c. Sea fog thicker and though mild early a full cloud cover.Early pm there were spots of rain....you would only know if you were outside at time; I was in garden; and they didn't even a cover on the ground. Just a light wind but a grey miserable day.
Tuesday max 21.0c min 15.3. After a mild night the temperature never really rose. There had been rains in the eraly hours, light but for a few hours but dawn was still and mild. Everywhere was grey including the sea. Odd patches of sun around 10:45 for rest of morning. A spotty shower, again not cover the ground at 3pm and then it brightened up with sunny spells after 4:30pm before clouding over again for rest of day and night.
Wednesday max 16.1, min 15.3 rains in early hours and it continued as very fine drizzle until well after 9am. Full cloud, no sign of Albania, and a gentle wind. There was a chill light wind and the temperature hardly rose at all before dropping in afternoon to be back at dawn temperature by 4pm. Afternoon rains were short and light but we had a constant shower from early evening through until midanight.
Thurssday max 16.4, min 12.9c. Still raining at dawn after it had been all night and finally stopped fully around 10:30. A few minutes of sun after 3pm but then it clouded over. A look round garden revealed 2 inches of water in a bucket I keep under my lemon tree. It started to rain again after 7pm and it was still raining at 10pm when I decided to have an early night.

Some TV news pictures showed there had again been heavy snow in Northern Greece over last few days; the plough driver giving update on mobile whilst driving it!!! (that would get him a fine in the uk)...said it was over a metre in places. Everywhere has had the rains but I not seen the news today as yet to see if any further snow or flooding around.

Friday max 21.1c min 13.3c, Sun rose slowly after 9am but it was mainly sunny despite the large number of thin clouds about; gusty afternoon winds up to F4. Clouds reduce late pm for nice sunny end to day and starlit night.
Saturday max 23.2c min 12.9c. High thin clouds but a nice sunny day with light winds. Bright yellow sunset and starlit night.
Sunday max 22.1c min 11.9c. Again plenty high white clouds around but also mostly sunny and full sun in the afternoon. Light breeze. More clouds to West late pm so sun vanished about an hour before sunset. There was a mainly starlit night with a bright haloed crescent moon.

Good morning from Sfakera; the sun is rising. There are clouds around over Albania and to the North. It is mild and still.
Yesterday the sun started to break through about 9:30 but despite a light gusting wind the clouds were slow to move and it was just sunny intervals. Early afternoon the clouds thickened and banks of grey moved across from the South West but kept going. In between them it was brighter and odd glimpse of sun. Slowly the sunny periods got longer and after 4;30 it was full on bright sunshine for the rest of the day. It is just so nice to sit in the garden during lockdown at the moment; the smell of the orange blossom is amazing; as always it is accompanied by the ceaseless humming of the busy working bees ( bees of all types from hive bees to lone bees to bumble bees). Butterflies are also present; mainly the scare swallowtail. There was a bright yellow sunset but clouds were building again over towards Albania but the start of the night at least was mostly starlit.
The maximum temperature was 25.0c and the minimum was 16.1c.

Good morning from Sfakera; my final day out needing papers before they relax that Rule on Monday. The sun is rising but there is plenty cloud around and grey to the West. There were conflicting weather reports for today depending on what TV channel you looked at yesterday so we will just have to see what happens.
Thursday, max 23.9c min 15.1c. Early there was cloud to west and Albania was hidden by sea fog. Sunny start but clouds soon built, some greyduring the morning. A light wind also picked up and in the afternoon it gusted up to F4. Big fluffy clouds built up over Albania and out own hills and higher thin clouds were always to the west and north west. However the sun did get through, albeit a bit hazy and it was very pleasant when the wind dropped. Suddenly the thinner clouds vanished and for about 90 minutes before sunset we had just lovely bright sunshine; this was followed by a bright yellow sunset turning orange just as the sun slipped from view. It was a starlit night. One odd thing was that 3 times during the late afternoon, early evening I heard sirens of fire engines; twice they came past my house on way towards Nymophes or further but about 4 hours apart. I don't know why but this was a very rare occurance; occasional once ut never before twice past my house on the same day.
April had just 7 days with rain against an average of 10. When it did rain early in month and again towards the end of the month it was constant and for many hours so we propbably had the same amount of rain as usual. There was a very pleasant 2 and hlf weeks during the month of just sunny (mainly) days. Most days the temperature was between 20 and 24c. The only downside was we could only enjoy it in our gardens or if out exercising; all the festival, Easter celebrations were cancelled and they would have been so nice in the good weather we had.
Yesterday was MayDay but the Government suspended celebrations until the 9th (when movement of people is relaxed. This however didn't stop the KKE PArty organising rallies and protests albeit with social distancing in Athens and other big towns. Here we had a convoy of 6 cars with banners and shouting through a tannoy whilst dropping leaflets on the road advertising a protest rally in Sidari next week. Meanwhile the weather was nice; it started very hazy with the sun up. There was an unusual sight towards Albania where the sea fog/haze was thick at lower levels and there was a clear line half way up the Albanian hills above which there was much less haze. The sun was up in the morning with a gentle breeze. In the early afternoon big fluffy clouds built over ALbania and our hills with high thin layers of cloud elsewhere; there was no sign of anyboby out collecting wild flowers to make a wreath as usual (maybe they will do that on the 9th). We had hazy sun or just sunless intervals until just before 5pm when the sun became permanent until it set. The sunset was again bright yellow and orange as it slipped from view with tinges of pink on the layers of thin clouds. The clouds were increasing and some were grey so we had a partial starlit night. Max was 24.2c and minimum was 14.4c.

Good morning from Sfakera where the sun is up and there are just a few small grey clouds slowly moving away. Otherwise it is almost cloudless and there is a lack of sea fog today as well following last nights early gusting winds.
Saturday max 21.4c min 14.9c. In the orning there were a few short sunny spells as it tried to break through the almost total cloud cover and a gentle breeze. Early afternoon the clouds thickened and became greyer. Rains started just after 5pm very light at first but became a heavier shower by 6pm and it continued that way til 6:30 when it eased to drizzle for an hour or so before it brightened whilst still being total cloud cover. After nightfall the clouds did begin to move and we had a partial starlit night.
Yesterday max 23.2c min 15.0c. There was plenty cloud around early; Albania was hidden but we had sun. The sunny intervals were short and there was a light wind. During the afternoon the SW wind picked up and the clouds slowly moved across us from the West. The sunny intervals increased in length. In fact from 2:30 to 6:40 it was almost total sun and nice and warm if sheltered from the wind. There was a further short spell of the sun before it disappeared early around 7:30pm. We had a partial star and moon lit early start to the night accompanied by a stiff gusting wind that finally eased by midnight.
For the last week now I have had several fireflies in my garden and twice there was one flashing away inside the house; I leave my kitchen door ajar (no light on) for my dogs to pop out while I awake. As they are very lazy flies it is easy to just pick them up and pop them back outside.....no need for the fly spray on them. Saturday also saw a rare sight; a group of about 4o large seagulls flying high and round in circles just like you see vultures do in Africa above a dead carcuss. I assume they had found a cloud of insects and were feeding as later in the day I saw the swallows doing the same in the same area.....in fact it wasn't just swallows as there were larger swifts and martens also in this feeding frenzy.
