Good morning from Sfakera where we again have a cloudless start to the day; this time nothing visible on the horizon either. The sun is up and the early morning chill in the air has gone. It was 8c at 8am. The sea looks clam. There is a hint of a breeze.
Yesterday a light wind came mid morning and the clouds dispersed though there was the odd passing one during the day. Whitetops appeared at sea as the wind was gusting and chilly too but the sun was always out. I walked to Roda for shops and it wa sfairly quiet.....there was a queuing system outside the pharmacy (only 2 allowed in shop at same time). Several people are now wearing masks and rubber gloves which looks most odd and seems a bit ott. The wind eased after 4pm and was almost gone by 6pm; we had a yellow sunset which was quickly followed by a lovely starlit night. Mind you as soon as the sun goes from view so the temperature drops rather quickly.
The maximum was 18.3c the minimum was 7.9c.

Good morning from Sfakera where it is mild, 12.£c at 8am. There is a sea fog/haze leaving Albania almost completely hidden. Otherwise it is a bit hazy and there are white fluffy clouds to the distant West and SW. The sea looks calm and the sun is up. There is a gentle breeze.
Yesterday was a lovely sunny day with a light wind that had a chill to it. If you were working outside or sat in shelter of wind then it was a perfect day.DUring the afternoon Albania slowly disappeared behind a blanket of sea fog and a few small whitetops also appeared as the wind picked up a bit. The sunset was again bright yellow but nothing special to look at nor colours in the sky once the sun had gone from view. We again had a wonderful starlit night.
The maximum temperature was 19.3c and the minimum was 12.0c.

Good morning from Sfakera. It is again just a high haze but the sun is already shining through it. There is a greater haze over the sea and Albania is just an outline today. The air is still and it was 11c at 8:30am. It is very quiet today; the PM asked for everybody to stay indoors unless necessity to go work or something else; seems that people are doing so as much less traffic passing my house this morning and I've only seen one person in the village.
Yesterday was a lovely sunny day. There were plenty fluffy clouds coming from the west and then seeming to build up over the Pantocrator range. During the afternoon the odd cloud blacked the sun for a while and as there was a light wind you could feel a chill when the sun was hidden and a surge of warmth as it reappeared. I was working in my garden and it was very pleasant indeed; the wind ensured my washing was dry very quickly as well. We again had a nice but unspectacular yellow sunset. The night was fully starlit.
The maximum temperature was 18.6C and the minimum was 12.0C.

Good morning from Sfakera; it is almost an identical start to that off yesterday; just a slightly heavier dew. It was 11c at 9am.
Yesterday was glourious; full on sunshine, the lightest of afternoon winds. I was pottering around in garden doing odd jobs; bit of painting, bit of weeding bit of prep ready for planting vegetables out (the seeds are shooting well). Whilst we are told to stay at home the place to be is definitely out in your garden if you have one. I have had a couple visitors and just sitting outside in the sun with a wine and catching up; first time we have seen each other since the restrictions began: It was just so warm; almost like late May. Late afternoon there were two motor yachts passing bye Roda; the first one was really big (about 4 times the size of the 2nd one) and must have cost millions!!! Maybe rich Italians getting away from there....they wont be allowed to dock in Greece unless Greeks and even then will be forced into quarantine. We again had a bright yellow sunset with just a light creamy sky after it had gone and night began to fall. The starlit nights seem to just get better and better despite my having a street light opposite my house; I have to go round the back of the house to get the best views.
The maximum temperature was 19.5c and the minimum was 10.5C.

Good morning from Sfakera; quiet today as no Church so no bells peeling this morning. We wake to almost full cloud cover with a bit of blue showing through thinner cloud. There was a glimpse of the sun trying to come through and we will maybe get some more if it passes behind the thinner areas of cloud. The air is still. Albania is just visible and the sea looks to be calm. It was 11.4c at 8:30am.
Yesterday a light wind picked up late morning bringing in some high thin white clouds in little layers by 1pm. They didn't affect the sun until later in the afternoon as the amount of cloud increased and the sun moved around to wards the west. It was still a very pleasant day outside and I spent all day in the garden until near 7pm; the sun had vanished behind cloud around 6:15pm. Despite the thickening cloud there was a partial starlit evening with the stars being mainly visible to the South and East but there was one particularly bright star (I think it is a planet) in the low western sky that shone through with a hazy ring around it.
The maximum temperature was 19.2c and the minimum was 9.8c.

Good morning from Sfakera where it is raining; just a light shower. Full cloud and mild at 12.8c.
Yesterday we had few glimpses of sun in the morning early, then full cloud with a light wind. A shower in the evening around 9pm.
Maximum 15.9c minimum 10.2c.
Weather reports will now be rare......Greece is in total lockdown and we must carry a form to state why we are out or get a fine of 150€. Forms only in Greek....started at 6pm today but though I gather from News last night something was up; I didn't know what till onlinwe. You get form by print offline (I don't have printer) or send an SMS (and you then get a reply its ok) but I no credit on phone. I can do a handwritten one. My other problem is the only way I can find out News - i.e what is going on is to go out and log online as the News is all too quick; and only in Greek!!!!!

Thanks for doing an amazing job whilst we are away. I'm sure there must be someone in the village who'll run some forms off for you.

Jan, can do handwqritten forms.....but to visit Neon to use Internet is not an allowed reason to be out even though my Greek is not good enough to kepp up with what is being said on the News.....e.g. last night on "10" they were talking re masks at same time as changes from this Thursday. I believed guy was joking but got impression must wear one to go into shops from Thursday. So came out early to check.....and nothing mentioned apart from new hours.
Weather catch up.
Monday maximum 14.7c minimum 12.6C. Day of full cloud and a chill wind, gusting at times as it had done through the night. Signs of more snow on Albania when northern peaks came into view. A light shower from 7:45 until around 11am. Small whitetops as the wind continued. A few spots of rain mid afternoon ccame to nothing and it brightened and we actually had a sunset...only time any sun of note all day. The sky was yellow with pink on the clouds for about 15 minutes. Stromgish wind most of the night,
Tuesday maximum 13.8c minimum 8.9c. Plenty clouds and chill wind, mostly grey but bit clearer to NE and E. Some early sun. Slowly the clouds became individual and whiter and kept passing in the winds giving us a mostly sunny but chilly afternoon. After 3:30 the winds eased and the clouds reduced further giving us a nice late afternoon and sunset; which was bright yellow. Early night was starlit but there was signs of a large bank of clouds to the N, NW.
Wednesday is a public holiday here; Greek Independence DAy (all events cancelled) and also a big day in Church (again cancelled). Dawn shows almost full cloud cover and much greyer from the West, SW. A rather bad weather front is due to pass today and tomorrow with plenty of rains.....we will see.

Good morning from Sfakera; it is chill and dawn is breaking; we have full clouds to the West, SW and NW rolling in after a clear night. Started with full clouds cover and grey to NW, W,SW. There was a dew and a light breeze. It slowly brighten a bit and we had small patches of sun after 11 into the early afternoon but it never cleared. The wind dropped and it was fine working in the garden. From mid afternoon we had full cloud cover.
Wednesday; maximum 14.9c minimum 5.1c. A day of full cloud cover. Early it was much greyer to the SW, W and NW and there was a light wind. It slowly brightened and from 11am until the early afternoon there were patches of sun. The wind eased and it was pleasant working in the garden. By mid afternoon it was full cloud cover and it remained that way the rest of the day.
Thursday;Maximum 18.9c, minimum 9.3c. There was a shower around 3am and a strong gusting wind. Woke to find plenty of cloud around and a choppy looking sea. A bit of sun from 8am but still very windy and lots of passing grey clouds; Whilst the sun shone we had a 5 minute light shower at 11am. After 1pm the cloud began to thicken and the wind eased. By 4pm the wind had almost stopped and it was looking stormy and getting greyer as night began to fall. It started to rain at around 7:45 as a light shower and continued for the rest of the day with just the odd small break; mind you it never got heavy.
Friday; maximum 16.1c minimum 11.2c. It was still raining lightly at dawn and almost stopped at 9am but continued as the lightest of drizzle until around midday. It brighten a little and there was another short light shower at 2pm. After 3:30 there was a bit of sun but it was mainly cloudy and there was a light wind' the wind picked up as did the clouds and they were much greyer later afternoon but due to a clear patch to the distant west we still had a brief sunset. Then it suddenly started to clear and by 8pm we had a clear sky to the NW, W and SW with plenty of stars and a bright crescent moon to the West. It co ntinued to become more starlit as the clouds all moved away.

Morning from Sfakera. Hiz Kaz glad you are keeping safe. I tripped when tyimg up canes ready for runner beans; hiy head on a tin. It is healing well and the swelling going down/
This morning dawn is breaking and there is very grey cloud above the hills behind but its clearer to the East so we may get a bit of early sun. To the West and SW there is a bank of cloud comimg and we are due a grey, maybe wet day as a prelude to a really bad day tomorrow with lots snow forecast for N Greece nd Albania. Catching up.....
Tuesday maximum 18.3c minimum 10.8c. Early morning fog over olive groves and the sea; could ony just see it from balcony and only one bit of Albania was visible. Higher clouds to the NE and around but the sun did rise. In fact we had a mainly sunny morning despite the clouds and the sunless intervals were on the whole short. The afternoon was more sunny and there was a light wind. Towards sunset it began to cloud over and looked very threatening; in fact in the evening we heard thunder but this time there was no rain.
Wednesday maximum 13.2c minimum was 9.3c. This was a topsy turvy dayof full cloud and a chill wind. Much more sea fog and cloud cover was full. The rains began at 9:45 and it was heavy for a while but stopped by 10:20 after a few claps of thunder. It started to clear by 11am so I couls see the sea again. However the day was just getting colder; dawn it was 12.8c, by midday it was 11.2, by 1pm 10.8c and by 3pm it was 9.3c!! ANother shower, short and heavy at 3pm saw the weather change as it cleared and we had some sun after 4pm for about half an hour during which the temperature rose. More clouds came in and it was raining again before 6pm briefly before a bit more sun before it set. Another half hour shower came around 7:30pm. After it stopped the clouds remained very grey but passed as a strong wind picked up that remained with us through till the early hours.
Thursday, maximum 16.5c minimum 7.2c. A chilly mostly cloudless star. The News showed us considerable snowfalls (over 6 inches in places) in Northern Greece and we could again see fresh snow on Albania. It remained a sunny day, always a wind that was rather chilly and it became more gusting during the afternoon, before easing after 4pm. The passing afternoon clouds seem to hand around over Pantocrator but we had sun until it set and a starlit night.
