This morning we met early outside the Neon for the village spring clean prior to Easter. Many late arrivals but overall there were over 20 including some children working away. All roads cleaned, verges strimmed, weeds pulled from wall bases, litter picked. Strim, sweep, pick up in teams around village. All cleaned around the bins, little fires to burn rubbish, strimmed grasses etc. The steps in the village were also weeded and swept. It was hot work in the sun and water was provided from the Neon. After a short break for drinks after midday we continued for another 2 hours before returning to the Neon for fish, chips and salad plus beer and a nice chat and relax after a good days work. Tomorrow we will all meet again but this time it will be in Church for Palm Sunday.
After the weekend the Neon will be open again all day (for the last 6 weeks they have been shut from around 2:30 till 6:pm) and of course the kitchen will be open. If you are visiting Roda it is well worth the walk, or drive, up to the village to look at some lovely old buildings and have a drink or a meal in the Neon. You will not be disappointed and in fact will get a very good meal at village prices plus the opportunity to chat with the locals or practice your Greek with them.

It is such a lovely little village with a great community spirit all centred around the To Neon. It is good to see the villages of Corfu looking good. Everywhere, with very few exceptions, looked clean and tidy on our drive up from the port the other day.
