Well, what with Brexit, interest rates etc conspiring to destabilise the exchange rate..... I’m undecided whether to load up my Caxton card, bring stashes of euros, or wads of Sterling to exchange when I get there. What’s the current rate in Roda?

I’m undecided whether to load up my Caxton card, bring stashes of euros, or wads of Sterling to exchange when I get there. What’s the current rate in Roda? There has been a lack of places posting exchange rates, Agas the jeweler is posting €1.10, I did see one in Acharavi offering €1.12, but this is higher than the interbank rate so must be charging commission. I will check Roda for you Jan

Check the rates at Debenhams. Best on the high street usually. Got 1.1320 euros about 10 days ago but they have dropped back a bit since then.

I've just checked today's top 20 exchange deals and Debenhams comes in at around the mid-point. Whichever one you choose, there are various other criteria to consider and, in any case, it makes only around €5 difference either way on a purchase of £1000. Not all of us want, or can afford, to shop at Debenhams, so it's very much a matter of personal choice.

Never shop n Debenhams unless it's for currency. They consistently have better rates than other high street outlets so it might only be 5 euros either way but if you change a number of times a year for a few years it does add up

I got 1.105 locally last weekend. Just checked and Caxton’s rate today is 1.1182. Only a couple of euros in it, so I think I’ll just load onto my card for convenience. We’re only coming for a week so won’t need megabucks (unless prices in Roda are suddenly sky high which they’ve never been previously).

We use Fairfax, Wendy - the rate today is €1.1190 per GBP. Make sure you use either the Alfabank or Piraeus ATMs to guarantee no further charges.

The website "TravelFX" offer just over 1.13 at the moment, however you need to pay by online bank transfer, and they deliver free by registered post next working day.
They're very reliable and I've used them for a couple of years now.
It doesn't really amount to much more than a couple of drinks if you're just exchanging a week or two's holiday spends, but better in our pockets than the banks eh?

The exchange rate in the village today, 7th June, was €1.11 and €1.12, minus of course the usual 2% commission. Janiemou

1.14 with Caxton today. No commission, withdraw from AlphaBank. Currency cards are the way to go, so easy and no worries about stashing cash if you haven’t got a safe in your accommodation (which we have).

Couldn't agree more, Wendy - be sure to get a 'Euro' card for the best rates.

Yes, that’s what we have, load it in Euros. Used it a lot in France last year too, as it’s also a debit card.

The average exchange rate in the village is £1 = €1.10 less the usual 2% commission.
