Just a few shots taken around the village in the last couple of days. The olive groves and fields near Valentinos are a mass of flowers, whilst the Judas trees in the car park are outstanding this year. The Arum lily was in a pot by the Afrodite Hotel. Equally beautiful but more difficult to capture are the headlands at Almyros covered in Chamomile and sea stocks. It looks like it has snowed with the purple of the stocks accentuating the whiteness. I will try and photo these on our next visit to the beach.

These were taken yesterday afternoon at the headland between Almyros and St Spiridon beach. The whole area is a mass of white with purple and yellow highlights of the sea poppy and phlomis.

It is always amazing that, at this time of year, the hibiscus trees in the gardens of Roda and along the main street in Acharvi are full of flower despite a lack of rain or watering. They are so beautiful in both the single and double form. The photos below also show the single flowered hibiscus that we have raised from seed we got at from a plant in Tournon on the banks of the Rhone, France, on my first drive to Corfu. A lovely reminder of the start of the adventure that is my retirement.

I mentioned on May 1st, that we had been out picking wild flowers for our Mayday wreath (stephanie). Well at last I managed to get some photos downloaded. The fields at the moment are knee deep almost in flowers. The wreath now hangs above our door.

We had a walk around Roda this today. The church looked so pretty with the hanging baskets and planters near the door and the roses in the border. The other photo was taken of the start of the lane behind The Dolphin restaurant.

I couldn't resist taking a photos of these star flowers covering an old wall in the neighbouring village of Sfakera, so pretty. The wild flowers are so lovely this year with the cooler and wetter start to the summer. The island is a picture.
