Following the visit of the Prime Minister and half the Cabinet to Corfu this week it has been announced that ferries will run between the Ionion Islands from March to October starting in 2018. Final details of times and dares to be announced in due course.
This will open up the Islands to Island hopping holidays that are very popular in the Agean. Week here, ferry to Zakynthos and week there before fly home. Options will be greater and of course from Corfu, Paxos and Anti Paxis are already linked as are the Diapontian Islands to the north of Mathraki, Ericoussa and Othoni.
This should help the independant travellers and with cheap flights available if booked early make for great holidays if the ferry price is reasonable. Also good for retired people on Corfu to take summer holidays without going via the mainland.
I will post further details when known.

I believe that the ferries will run on three days each week and carry almost 200 passengers. It would be interesting to know if they will carry vehicles too.

The timetable has been released, sailings start on 1st May 2018. The outward trip from Corfu on Mandays, Wednesdays and Fridays with returns on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Depart 8am.
Fares still to be announced. Looking at picture it is passengers only ferry, but it could just be image photo rather than actual ferry to be used.
