So the Old House/Pangalos/Kind Hearted Place is to become a Spanish named all day beach bar? How is it looking and is it also Spanish themed? Can't help thinking I will miss the restaurant, it was one of my favourites. Opening some time in June apparently

It is all hidden behind dark green netting at present. Looking forward to the unveiling to see what it is like and to having a tapas.

These are some photos I took from the beach of the work being done to the former Pangalos Restaurant. It is a massive amount of work being undertaken and they are working all hours to get it done. The workers could have done with the motorised wheelbarrows we saw in Alberobello in Italy!

The first photo is of the inside of La Luz with its beautiful tiling and exposed stonework. So much still to do to open in 10 days. So looking forward to seeing the finished restaurant. They are putting paving in between the restaurant and what was the beachside part of Crusoes.
The second photo is of the former Crusoes, where Yiannis is just about ready to open. Such an improvement on the whole block.

Omg, it will take several seasons to sell those hats!!
Still an open shop is better than a boarded up building for sure and Yainnis will do well.

I agree totally Dave but for that location I would have preferred seeing a bar or restaurant rather than another shop selling tourist tatt.

I understand what you are saying, alanandann, but we don’t want more of the same of anything. It would be good to see someone introducing new ideas to the village whether it be shops, bars or restaurants. There is a current thread on Trip Advisor asking if there are any good fish restaurants in Roda and we really do need someone to fill this niche. I don’t think that we need any more traditional bars here, but we do need something more aligned with the increasing numbers of visitors from other countries. At the moment, no one is even acknowledging the shift to designer ales that is taking place across the rest of Europe. I agree about ‘yet another tourist shop’, but reserve your judgement until you see it - it’s smart, modern and well-organised. Perhaps it will raise the bar for the rest.

spent a week in spain a few week ago. sorry did not see any "designer ales" just the usual mix. and as stated previously most bars in Roda sell various beers differing from bar to bar, with a a variety to suit most tastes .perhaps you should form the first branch of C.A.M.R.A.in roda ,or open a bar /restaraunt selling these "designer ales".myself ifeel the owners of premises vending alchohol have the nous to cater for the clientele who visit their establishment .

We’ve had the guided tour and I can confirm that ‘La Luz’ will be something very special in the village when it opens next week. It makes the best of the old, traditional Pangalos building, but is is very modern and stylish. The beachside area that was previously Crusoe’s will be the restaurant, while the rest of the building will will constitute a bar, cafe-bar and snack bar extending down on to the beach. No expense has been spared and it will be a big asset to the village. The eight kitchen staff will be getting their act together this weekend with a view to being open for business on Tuesday.
